catalytic converter light

So one of my catalytic converters is making a rattle noise. The car is under warranty from infiniti but when I told them they said they can only fix it if there is a light on the dash about the issue. Has anyone had this issue?

I have the warranty for another 4 years so I dont know if I should wait it out and see if the light comes on or if I should pay to get it fixed.

its a 2010 g37x sedan with 48k miles

They can fix any issue that's wrong with your car. A rattling catalytic converter (or whatever it is) is not normal. It's a defect that they need to investigate and fix. It wasn't rattling when you bought it and it's not supposed to rattle.

I agree with Black Betty if the rattling noise is coming from the cats is not normal and therefore they should investigate and check the cats to see if they are failing. I would talk to another dealer or there manager to see if they can work something out. My 08 coupe had a horrible rattle and no cel and I really thought it was the cats

no such thing as they can't replace the catalytic converter without the check engine light on. catalytic converters are covered under the federal emissions warranty for 8/80. your catalyst is internally separating, call nissan and notify them of what the dealer has stated and see what the outcome is going to be.
