Anyone here with the Z1 new Intake kit?
Wouldn't the silicone hoses have to go through the radiator support and it be cut to accommodate the hoses? Even if you cut the rad support and didn't have any support for the hoses it would eventually and quickly cut into the hoses with the front end hitting bumps and vibration.

Also it would be pretty easy to rig something to shield the filters but would like to see their angle installed with the bumper cover off.

will have to make it a snug fit with some rubber on the edges of the rad support to hold the couplers and prevent them from getting cut over time.
An Idea just popped in my head while typing. If the cut was wide for the intake to wiggle, I could tape some flat rubber strip over the couplers to make it a snug fit and also to protect them from any damage.
I'm encouraged by the progress being made here. Nice looking set up. Interesting install thoughts. I wouldn't be confident without splash shields. But, that seems like a minor concern overall.
Before/After dyno would be really great. But, I know that may not be in the cards. I've been interested in the interest in intake systems if not for performance.
Is it more of an engine dress up sort if thing? It certainly looks good. The factory set up works tremendously well otherwise.

I'm curious if after the install the couplers and filters are still in that position, or angle. Pointing forward toward the grille. If it does it should work a little more like a ram air setup due to the angle with air being ever so slightly forced in the filter and down the tubing while the car is being driven. Not much but a little more so than the Stillen or Takeda, which are more horizontal with the grille, if the picture of the Z1 is accurate.
But not having any familiarity with how much room is between the radiator and grille i'm clueless if there's even enough room for that to be possible. I would imagine it would be a pretty snug fit. Interested to see if this is the case after the install.....

There is so much air pressure built up inside between the rad and grill ram air is not that much if at all any effect. You just don't want them getting too wet and ingesting water. It appears as if you can rotate the filters via the large bent one.
I have a 08 sport g37 coupe. Just installed the motordyne art pipes, exhaust and z1 intake.
We made custom brackets for the z1 intake and I ordered these air filter socks/covers from 4wheelparts.com that protect that filters from getting wet.
I'll post pictures soon

I suppose I'll ask again. Is there any reason to do intake long (ca) or short other than for purely cosmetic reasons? I'm all for 7-10whp if it's there to be found. But, that seems a stretch. Moreover, $50/1.25hp seems steep without going straight for the cats and freeing up the obvious bottleneck.
Love the look. Really. But, are any of these AT ALL worth the cost?
Interesting. I keep hearing that the oem intakes are ideal in nearly every way. No moisture concerns. Great pressure. Smooth curves. Nearly all of the hp available. Torque strong.

But, I guess I'll sit on the sidelines until I can afford to throw caution and money to the wind. I'd be properly irritated if I spent $400-800 on a performance mod that had little or no affect. Then again, they look extremely good and I suppose they add a little growl.
