Question about HFC's/RHFC's and rasp.

In any event, here's another way to look at this: rasp or no rasp, how much happier are you with your FI exhaust vs. OEM?
Over the last 3-4 years of collecting opinions on this forum, I've come to the conclusion that an OEM catback matched with a non-resonated pair of aftermarket cats is a good sound, no rasp. But many aftermarket catbacks matched with a non-resonated pair of aftermarket cats runs the risk of unpleasant noises. That's the reasoning behind my decision to get resonated cats and 18" resonators in the eventual aftermarket catback.
Now that I'm where I am with my set-up, I'm 95% happy. The 5% of misery is the freaking racket made when starting the car cold. Holy crap, that sounds positively horrible, like a poorly tuned dump truck. And included in that 5% is the decel hiss, which is mostly invisible to me since I don't do much downtown driving, or ramp garages. And I would be remiss in not admitting to some occasional creaks and rattles that I didn't used to have. Very, very minor stuff.

Is the rasp from the HFCs on stock exhaust? Or do y'all have other exhaust mods on yer Gs as well?
Getting some Magnaflow HFCs installed Thursday and all this rasp talk is making me a bit cautious about going forward with it. Maybe i should just save up a little more and do a full CBE and leave it at that...

The stock exhaust is garbage and it amazes me infiniti thought that subtle sound (which means non existent) was the way to go with their sport sedan. As for how much happier I am, I would say billion times happier as I love the exhaust note and volume of my fast intentions setup even if I have to deal with some of the nuisances.
A billion, you say?

I agree about Infiniti's exhaust options, which is a non-existent option of One. The Sport Package should absolutely have a Sport Exhaust. It's pretty lame that it didn't have that.
I also love my FI exhaust. Such an exotic sound... so freaking rewarding to hear that amazing growl around 4K.

Sorry to bring a month-old thread back to life, but I just finished my FI setup and figured I'd give my opinion.
I started with the FI CBE with 18" resonators and new-style X-pipe. The sound was absolutely AMAZING! I was looking for a quiet setup with a deep growl. The growl sounded so nice that I began wishing I had gone with no/12"resonators. I decided to attempt to amplify the deepness of the growl by adding the FI RHFCs. After installation, I can hear a slightly noticeable difference in the tone, but I was definitely hoping for a bigger difference. I also notice a rasp when I accelerate that wasn't there before, and when the car is idling, there is a noticeable raspy sound near the RHFCs. I'm not sure if a gasket is bad or the pipes aren't fitted tightly enough together, but I'm definitely going to take a better look when I get a chance. I'm sure there is a sealant or something that I could use to quell that annoyance. It may even be the way the RHFCs are supposed to sound, but I have a RMP on my RX-7 and it doesn't make anywhere close to the noise coming from the middle of the car.
In hindsight, I'd probably go with a FI HFC and FI CBE w/ no resonators. It would be nice if I had all 6 combos available that were quick and easy to swap out so I could test each sound, but that's obviously not realistic. Regardless of the downsides, it is definitely a great system and VERY high quality, and I would very much recommend this setup to anyone in the market for a RHFC/CBE setup.

FI resonated HFC's and FI 2.25" catback with 18" resonators. Absolutely no rasp, intoxicating exhaust note, can confirm vq hiss is there!
