aFe Takeda catback G37x Coupe
aFe Takeda catback G37x Coupe
I recently ordered my aFe Takeda catback exhaust for my g37, I explicitly stated that it must fit the "G37 AWD model" and after speaking with aFe, it was determined "it should fit".
To no surprise, it didn't fit..
Luckily the shop had a TIQ welder and managed to make it fit, not without forking out some labour costs..
After I installed it, it sounded pretty good from inside the car. However outside, I quickly noticed a rattling sound was being emitted at a certain RPM or frequency.
Turns out that upon inspection on a hoist, there appears to be a broken piece of weld bouncing around inside the passenger-side exhaust tip. They are fully sealed and the shop cannot remove the piece.
aFe has stated they will replace it, but not from an existing set in stock... no, that would really put them out financially I guess... </sarcasm>. Instead they'll have one manufactured for me... Hmm I wonder how long that will take.
Talk about customer service.
-=UPDATE=-
Spoke to Scott Bennett at aFe, he is going to try and get a new part off to me ASAP. If he manages to pull it off, I'll be very pleased indeed. I personally find the aFe to be the best sounding exhaust I've heard on the G. I've heard the Stillen catback but don't like the "full throttle" sound. Others on YouTube, sound terrible, mine sounds exactly like the few Takeda videos on YouTube, and IMO is perfect for what I'm looking for.

Talk about customer service. I will update in 1-2-3 months or when/if ever I get the tip replaced.
Here's a link to a video of the sound and mods required:

the test fit vehicle was not an awd so they stated they had no idea if it would fit or not
after they sent me pics of the exhaust i quickly knew it was not going to fit
y pipe x pipe section is the issue
Yes I can see that clearly now that I'm more informed! I am not a tinkerer and so tend to rely on the "pros". Haven't moded a car in years, but there's just something about the G that begs for it..
