Exhaust Suggestions 08 G37S Coupe

I have a bad internal rattle on my passenger side cat. Looking to replace it with a HFC or test pipe.

Originally I was just going to buy a stock cat to replace it, but the more I look, the more I'm leaning towards a HFC or test pipe setup.

Goal: Replace cats with HFC or test pipe and maintain about the same level of sound, but most importantly no cabin noise or drone. Staying with stock exhaust.

I was thinking about Berk HFC, FI RHFC, or Motordyne ART Resonated TP.

I feel like the MD ART pipes are probably the best but I just want to ensure that there is no internal drone noise introduced as I'm using this car as my daily driver.

Thanks.

FI RHFC.

Your car is going to get louder, no two ways around it. FI RHFC will likely give you the least volume increase and drone.

ART pipes don't have any drone really, at least matched up the E370, but are very, very loud. I have the E370+ARTs on my car and you can easily hear it if I floored it half a mile away. Also, I think the outlet diameter of the ART to the inlet of the stock y-pipe is different, and if so you'd have rasping issues as well.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I could hear a FI RHFC + stock exhaust but I can't seem to find a vidya of it.

Definitely go with a high flow cat. Test pipes are very dirty and louder.

Honestly I'm probably in the minority but I think that the stock exhaust holds its own nicely against any of the after market pipes I've heard. Albeit, I've only heard it online and not in person, but stock is sexy.

Thanks for the video. I still want to hear the FI RHFC and stock cans from inside the car. I don't really care how loud it is outside, but on the inside, I'd like to keep the drone out and keep the luxury feel.

Thank you guys for your input. Right now the plan is to either just replace my stock rattler with another stock cat or go FI HFC.

I would go with the Fast Intentions Resonated HFC's. You will have less drone than test pipes or the Berk's along with receiving better performance than the stock cats.

I do love the sound of fast intentions. I do have a video of it up on YouTube of the full system. HFC + exhaust. When I am on the freeway it's just the best sound.

do you have the resonated HFC's? Also, what exhaust set-up did you go with?

I have the stock exhaust with the FI R-HFC's and I'm very pleased with the sound. Slightly louder in the cabin than the stock cat's, but certainly not annoying. The reason I replaced the stock cats was that they were beginning to rust out. Every time I did an oil change, I was staring at rust and rattle. IMO, you can't go wrong with the FI's.

Here is my car with motordyne art pipes & motordyne e370 exhaust.

the 1st pull i had extreme rasp while the art pipes were new and I was at WOT. the 2nd pull is how the hcar normally sounds and sounds today now that the art pipes were fully broken in. it is LOUD AF and is deep and mean. the growl is real aggresive and then around 4k rpms it gets exponentially louder and exotic and sounds insane.

i've heard my car side by side to a FI rhfc & catback and the motordyne is much more exotic sounding and much much louder.

Another G37s plan

Ordered the eBay Tanabe knockoffs yesterday. Didn't want to spend a gazillion dollars and can't stand that rattling muffler any longer. They sold 93 of these, so somebody has them!
