i had K&N drop ins, RHFCs and a catback. i got it uprev tuned. i then installed a stillen Gen 3 intake. got it retuned. i picked up 7 hp/tq. those sorts of numbers are negligible and absolutely not worth the $500 i paid for the kit. however, you can absolutely hear the growl above 4k with the windows down, and ill be damned if the pipes hidden behind the grill doesnt look menacing.

To me, this proves a CAI is working great. Mods are not additive in their HP gains. I don't know what you expected but 7HP on top of your other mods seems very reasonable to me.

Imagine if you added the catback last and only gained the same 7HP available to be freed up with breather mods. You might have made a thread about it too, saying how catbacks are "not worth it"

the only problem with that argument is that catbacks are not worth it from a performance standpoint. $1200 for 13 or so hp (what fast intentions claims)is a terrible deal. However, that isnt the reason people buy catbacks. We buy them because they completely change the way the car sounds and the overall driving experience for the better.(in most cases) for $1200 you notice an immediate change and the car even "feels" faster because of the increased sound.

So, the car "feels" faster because of the increased sound?

I can't agree that everyone is just like you. I bought my CAI and CBE because I want the most performance I can squeeze out of the car not so I can listen to the engine or have shiny menacing pipes, that was an added bonus.

Check Alfredo24's build thread he has before & after dynos on all his mods. I believe his 1st mod to dyno www the stillen gen 3 Long tubes. Pretty sure he posted gains along with several others on this site. It sucks that some of you guys don't feel like the gains are worth it. But it seems to me that most of the guys that feel that way bought the most expensive CAI and already had some other mods installed that didn't allow for you all to feel or get the full impact of a CAI on its own. The power is there, the sound is there, and the menacing looks under the hood as well as thru the grill are def there

Really guys ? Intake and exhaust and tune and blah blah blah.... That is like 10-15 years ago. This thread makes me feel like we are on a honda forum or even a maxima forum. Truth is you guys doing exhaust intake tune etc that really is a lot of money being spent for minimal performance, kind of like tricking yourself the car is really that much faster when in reality it isn't. Sorry to break it to all you guys but to me its really boost or go home. Anything else is flat out a waste of time and just sort of for posers who want to make noise and make people "think" their car is fast. Not trying to offend anyone just my opinion. And yes my ultimate goal is boost for my g. But I do get it some ppl do not want to spend the 10-15k to boost their car, reliability issues, and I'm sure there will be a ton of other reasons that will be named after this post as to why some wouldn't do it. To each it's own, continue having fun with intake and exhausts lol.

You sure about that?

DIY power mods (such as they are), are typically what introduces people to modding. That, and stickers, LOL.

So you want to boost your Sedan... someday... in the future. Good for you, and good luck with that.

Really everyone ? People have been upgrading their intakes and exhausts on many platforms for a long time. This thread makes me feel like we are on a car forum I used to own a long time ago. Truth is you guys doing exhaust intake tune etc that really is a lot of money being spent for minimal performance, kind of like you're and idiot and didn't research what these mods will do beforehand. Glad to break it to all you guys but to me its really boost or I'll insult you. If you don't think exactly like me you are a poser who wants to make noise and make people "think" your car is fast.
If I offend anyone I don't care, it's just my opinion. And yes my ultimate goal is boost for my g. Even tho I myself admit most people don't want to spend 10-15k to boost their car and have reliability issues, if you don't say somewhere in your diatribe that your ultimate goal is to boost your g, you're a poser. To each it's own, continue having fun with intake and exhausts lol. Posers

What you did. I see it.

I'm definitely a poser...I removed my hood mat to make the intake louder

FWIW, before I spent 15k boosting my car, I'd just buy a S4 or 335i
