Got my "ebay" axle back exhaust. Seems to be a copy of the Tanabe Medalion. For less than $200 shipped it's pretty decent quality. Welds look good. Tips are excellent. They fit the car well. They are 4.5" round. If you really want to know how it sounds just remove your stock muffler. If this rusts or starts to sound bad I can always put the stock muffler back on. On with the pics....

The tail pipes seem to be pretty close to the bumper. I would watch out for melting or more likely for your silver color, discoloration around the cut outs.

Yeah I'll keep an eye on it. I have about 1/4 inch gap.

I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on it. Per Infiniti's instruction manual, they recommend a ~3/4 inch gap. Not a guaranteed issue, even though Infiniti states a serious breakdown will occur, lol.

is it possible to get some kind of a heat shield metal and place in between the bumper and the tips?

What is the easy fix for the exhaust pipe touching the bumper? Doesn't even really seem like a DIY, unless it was an install error.

Here is an example of the heat shield you were talking about, I don't think this would look good an a G37 though.
