Stillen Gen 3 hot after drive?

Hey guys.
Just got the Gen 3 intake system mounted yesterday.
Drove around for a while and came home, opened up the hood, and touched the intake pipes to find that they're pretty warm if not hot enough to hurt if I held on for long.

Is that normal for intake pipes to be hot?
This is my first intake upgrade ever and I had never touched the stock ones to check... So just wondering.

If it's not normal then is there something you can do to help it cool down?

Yes. They're metal so they heat up from the underhood temp. When your driving their sucking in outside cool air so this tends not to matter. If it really bugs you you can always cover them in heat wrap.

Okay that makes sense. I was under the impression that they are always that hot even while driving which irked me because it should be cool air haha. But yeah I did wait a bit before opening the hood so you're probably right about the underhood temp.
Thanks!

Don't cover them with heat warp you will make it worse . In my opinion intake tube shouldn't be metal , the metal will hold the heat and heat up faster than any composite tube , the result is "heat soak" problem . This happing to me almost every day and soon I will switch to any good composite tube .

What changes have you noticed? Still have stock exhaust?? I'm considering this.

Unfortunately, I changed the exhaust before getting the intake. I have the Tanabe exhaust.
You can hear the Gen 3 whirring up at 2000-2500RPM, then it goes away for a bit until you push it beyond 3500RPM then it whirs up again. hahah
But usually when windows are down. With windows up, I only notice a greater sound up in the high RPMs.
Response time is better, IMO, but that could also be due to the exhaust kicking in the rear because I had felt the whole burble under me since I changed the exhaust haha.

Overall, I feel like it's a great balance with the Tanabe exhaust that I have because the engine is pulling sound in so you hear both, not just the sound coming from the rear.
