Single Exit Exhaust
hey guys i did some research and didnt find anything but i was thinking about trying a full 3in from cats back single exhaust to a greddy tic tip. if not 3in im going to go with 2.5 but how do you think it would sound? ever seen or known of anyone doing a single? couldnt really find any sound clips or anything.
The rear bumpers are designed around two tips, if you go with one you'd have to modify the bumper otherwise it'd look retarded. That's why you don't see them being done (not that I've seen at least)
Also, if you want to achieve similar flow characteristics to that of a dual 2.5" exhaust, then you'd have to go with a 3.5". If your y-pipe is OEM or restrictive, then the single exit would be pointless.

I think I will be in the minority to suggest that I like this idea... However, I think the rest of your car would have to be pretty aggressive to pull off something like this. There is another G on this forum floating around running a single exhaust. Like Sam suggested, if you could mold your bumper to fill in one of the factory exhaust cut-outs, I think it would look much cleaner, but, nonetheless, I'm interested to see this...
I like the idea, but have yet to see it on a G. I have seen it a few times on Z's but they put work into making them look right. You should do it and let us see how it comes out.

That picture is where i got the idea. Im getting the rims (xxr 522) and was thinking about the exhaust. I agree on how it would look dumb becuase its meant for dual but because i dont get paid that much at my job it would have to do for time being.
1) look retarded with 2 bumper cut outs but only 1 filled
2) buying 2 exhausts, 1 for now, 1 for later
3) buy 1 exhaust, fill bumper on the other side, and look like a civic?
I ran a single exhaust on my 03 350Z and I loved it. I had an Agency Power 3in single, Stillen 2.5in Y-pipe and Berk HFC's. It was insanely loud but it sounded sooooo good. Major drone at highway speeds. Mine didn't look funny from the back because I had a different bumper that worked well for a single. I think it will sound good and be different on a G37 but imo I would still get a dual just because the G37 is a classier car than a 350Z and it looks better with a symmetrical exhaust.
