Intake Manifold Compatibility

Does anyone know if the VQ35HR and the VQ37HR intake manifolds are compatible with each other? They look the same when removed but i am not sure if they will function the same without some ecu work done. I am really interested in the M370 intake manifold for the VQ37HR but i have a VQ35HR. Much help is appreciated. Thanks.

The M370 manifold is an OEM manifold from a VQ35HR that is modified for a VQ37VHR so it should fit perfectly. However a call to Tony will get you 100% accurate info. Very helpful and informative guy.

if the 35hr manifold had to be modified to fit the 37hr what makes you yhink the modified manifold will fit with no problem.. you would need to undo yhe changes that where done to fit our car

I think Black Betty meant that it has been modified for performance and not for fitment purposes

Got damn i did my search. LOL. I couldn't find a anything on the compatibility between the two manifolds. All i found was what BB said. The M370 is originally a 35HR manifold re-drilled to fit the 37HR. It might mean that it could fit or it couldn't fit due to the new re-drilled holes. There isn't much talk about this manifold other than what gains it provides. I even checked on Driver but no bueno.

Not at all. Just that I do know Q personally and like him. I don't know you personally or even from the forum much because you're new. There's very very few members of this forum that I actually don't like. You're not one of them. I'm pretty neutral toward you so far. Although I am intrigued by you screen name. So at a very minimum I find you interesting. But this is just an Internet forum so I highly doubt you'd really care anyway, would you?

Q - call Tony and ask him. I promise he will tell you the answer and it won't be wrong or vague. That's the only way to get a definitive correct answer. The Internet and this forum in particular aren't known for that.

From a lot of reading I've found the opposite to be true.

I've read several other forum threads dating to when the intake was originally released. The most informative one was on a 370z site where members were DRILLING Tony about the gains and fitment. Basically everyone wanted him to go into many details and prove the gains before buying it. I read all 50+ pages of which many were direct responses from Tony. What I gathered is the Motordyne intake is a STOCK VQ35 intake. However, Infiniti intentionally changed the bolt pattern to keep them from being interchangeable from both motors. Obviously it has a different plenum design, but Tony does not touch or modify it. What he does do is somehow machine the mounting holes to be able to bolt to the VQ37. After reviewing pics and comparing both intakes to the Motordyne, each bolt hole is shifted a small amount. It is only logical that Tony longates these holes to be able to bolt up, hence the reason for the "top plate" that the bolts go through on the motordyne.

Here is a recent thread when i initially started looking into it. I was kind of thinking out loud in my post, but covers what I'm saying here.

Anyway - to answer your question: 1. The Motordyne will NOT fit your VQ35. 2. It is the EXACT SAME INTAKE, lol, so there will be no gains whatsoever.

Please still contact Tony as I'd love to validate my finds, although I'm 95% sure.

Thanks for the great info. I read that too about the mounting plate. But i was thinking that IF this intake manifold does produce gains than could i remove the mounting plate and reuse the original holes if i'm able. So on the performance side I have been skeptical if they actually took it apart and enhanced or customized it for any potential peak gains. I am just really curious about this manifold if it really produces the net gains as they say or is it just another stock manifold marketed to gullible buyers.
