new intake in!

Hey everyone, just got my intake installed today and wanted to give everyone a little sound sample...

this is the first engine mod I have done so far, with many more to come, this is a Dual Short Ram Fujita intake, on my 08 G37. I haven't tuned it or anything yet but i can already feel some difference in the torque, it has a nice pull to it!

sorry for the video quality went bad after i emailed it from my iphone to my computer.

Hmmm....they didn't come with heat shields?

Congrats on your install. Looks clean.

I would never install a intake with no heat shields.

Your buddy is way too silly. It will hurt nothing to drive around without heat shields, thousands of cars have done just that for decades. The shields will help to feed cooler air into the intakes when the car is motionless and at low speeds, but after you start moving the car's forward motion will force large amounts of ambient air into the engine compartment (and into the intake filters). I have measured the air temperature in the engine compartment while driving, and in 70*F weather the temp near where the filters would be was about 3* to 4*F above ambient....not enough to worry about. Air flow through the engine compartments of most modern cars is far better than folks believe. I'm certainly not saying that "cold air intakes" have no value, but they are far from mandatory for improved performance. Because they usually cost more than non-CAIs, some folks think they have more value than they actually do.
