Just installed the Stillen Gen 3 CAI -?

I just installed the Stillen gen 3. What a pita!!!! Well, its not like I wasn't warned.

Anyway, I got a problem attaching the filter guard. The directions mention that one of the filters has a longer mounting screw, I think the passenger side, and that's what the guard attaches to. My mounting screws are equal length on both filters and are not long enough to mount the filter guard.

Am I screwing something up or do I need a filter with a longer mounting screw?

Thanks.....

Mind providing pics with what you are talking about? I installed my gen 3 intakes a couple of months ago and I never had this problem.

I had one with a longer screw (bolt actually, but doesn't matter). If they are the same length, someone at Stillen probably messed up packing it. You can do it with the longer bolt on either side, but one should be longer to get the shield on.

Thanks, looks like I received two short bolts from Stillen. Guess I'll have to give them a call Monday.

Went to the home depot and just got a longer bolt for the air filter. Worked great. It was a pain in the azz to install and if I did another one, it would take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours. I made so many dumb mistakes. I put the front bumper back on and then I see the styrofoam peice on the work bench. That was fun to drop the front again. Grrrr!

Drove the car a little today and does have a good sound that compliment' the invidia exhaust. Butt dyno: really pulls 4000+

I am going to assume that you are a somewhat familiar with working on cars so the fact that you still had minor issues is exactly why I am so hesitant to attempt the install in mine. I'm not the handy type but when I put my mind to something I can usually accomplish it. Hahaha, I can see what happened to you totally happening to me. I thought that was funny

If you decide to install it yourself, follow the DIY on here and dremel the hell out of the area you need to cut. That will allow you more room for adjustment. Also put some padding around the holes you cut so it doesn't scratch the tubes. Take you time.

I dont know if it's because of the stillen and the invidia exhaust working together and the cool outside temps, but the car is running great now. I did the ecu reset after the install.
