Crushed exhaust :(

Up on Angeles Crest Highway today, rounded a corner and had the choice of big rocks or VERY BIG rocks! Chose the big rocks and almost got away with it. Driver side exhaust just behind the resonator took a full hit and is collapsed by about 30-40%. Probably not a good thing to run the car very long in this condition.
Looks like the resonators cannot be replaced individually but are a welded together pair. Any guess as to how much this will cost? Probably going to turn it in to my insurance company as a comprehensive claim as my deductable is only $100.

^What he said! Just drop an aftermarket one on there instead. For the price that a stock one will probably cost you (unless insurance covers it), you'd be able to get a nice catback.

if your insurance company will just give you a check for the estimated repair cost, then I second the idea of getting an aftermarket cat back. The agent should have a book to calculate the material and labor then he might offer you the option of taking into a shop and have them deal with the shop or just give you a check to have it done yourself. GEICO gave me that option the one time I made a claim. you may get a little less if you take a check because insurance would cover the entire cost of the shop repair (less the decuctable) even if it ran a little high but you lose flexibility.

I remember when my car was broken into and my aftermarket stereo was ripped out. I asked the agent if they would cover the aftermarket radio he apologized but said no because i did not file the new part with GEICO. He then said that he can only cover the OEM radio and gave me the cost , it was way more than I paid for the aftermarket. OEM stuff is way overpriced. Good luck.

Mid-pipe on drivers side where it drops down just before the muffler..
Pleasantly surprised at dealer replacement cost of $633 + $200 labor. I am going to let the insurance take care of it. The whole road looked like the forest critters were united in pushing rocks onto the roadway. We need more CalTrans plows and less CHP on this road!

there are probably a lot of used OEM mid pipes floating around (in classifieds, ebay, etc). probably could pick one up for $100-200. possibly get insurance to cut you a check based on dealer estimate and pocket the change?

Comprehensive is when something hits you. Like if the rocks fell on your hood.

You hit the rocks, it will go collision coverage. Whats your collision deductible? $500??
Might be better to pony up $100, and buy a used mid-pipe, save the insurance claim.

This guy just bought my Magnaflow catback, he is selling his stock exhaust.
Make him an offer:

Saw the adjuster today, comp claim with $100 deductible! I was asked if the rocks were falling or already in the road and I said I was too busy trying to miss them to really know. Got to love Allstate!
