Cobb Tuner....is it worth it?

Hey guys,

I am running a Fast Intentions catback, Injen short ram Intake currently. If I just have a catback/intake can I run this in stage 2? Or do I need to run HFC's as well to get to stage 2? I know stage 1 only gives 3hp gain, but reviews are saying 11hp and 6tq. Are these gains correct and is this thing worth the bang for the buck. I am lookin at one for 300 range. Car has 42k on it. Any premature wear on motor running this also. Any info would be appreciated.

First of all, Cobb does not support NA cars anymore, only FI.

If you only plan to use their canned tunes (i.e. stage 1/2/2+) then you need to know that there will be no official support from Cobb to update or troubleshoot issues.

For canned tunes, I'd go with Uprev (Osirus standard + e-tunes).

If you go custom, then get whichever your tuner is more knowledgeable with.

i have it and i love it! but i wouldn't buy new tho....find a cheap used one...they're all about the same! if u really wanna go fast, buy an auto, then amputate your left leg and left arm for weight reduction....but if ur not that hardcore, cobb is fine

edit: oh, and make sure u drop off the kids at the swimming pool too, save u a few more pounds

Go with a live, custom and perfect-for-your-car UpRev tune! That is the best way to do it, hands down. An e-mail tune will give you barely half of what a custom tune will. When a tuner gets his hands onto your exact ECU with a dyno, then you'll get the full benefits of it, because he will tune according to what your particular car is putting out. You'll be doing your engine a big favor that way, and you'll see optimal gains as well. I'd pass on Cobb unless you're not looking for the best option.

But I prefer to steer with my left arm even though I have an auto. What should I do?
