Thanks.

What's funny is: Everyone speaks of this deceleration hiss, but I've had my Fast Int. HFC's on for 2 months with no decel hiss whatsoever anytime. The only way I could hear it is when I'd rev it just the same as the OP did in park. The only time I got a decel hiss was when I found out my HFC's had a leak due to improper installation by the dealer. When the HFC's were fine, there was never a hiss at all during decel. This makes me wonder...

absolutely no drone whatsoever. i drove the highway to work this morning to keep the car at a steady 65-75 mph and see for myself. after a few minutes, i forgot about the fact that i now have a bada$$ exhaust setup. had to whip across a couple lanes and hit a speed that i won't mention to satisfy my ears and blood pressure.

i promise i'll get some footage together for you guys from both, inside the car, and outside the car. it's been raining cats and dogs here and i don't want to tie in the sound of water splashing.

I don't recall anyone reporting hissing with FI HFC. Berks tend to do it with certain exhaust systems. It's been said it's because they are the freest flowing.

Tony from Motordyne says the hissing is directly related to the amount of restriction in the exhaust as a complete unit. The sound is there because of the engine (valvetrain mechanics or whatever), not because of a particular exhaust component. Motordyne is working hard to engineer a cat back system that eliminates the sound completely in conjunction with the ART's.

The freer flowing, the less noticeable the hiss is. On the flipside, if the exhaust is extremely restrictive, airflow is so restricted the hiss isn't possible. Infiniti figured out a way to completely tune out the hiss with the factory setup.

I'm telling you guys, with the exact setup I currently have, you'd really really have to listen closely to notice the hiss. If I didn't mention it, you wouldn't notice it. I was trying to show it to a passenger who is a Nissan Buff, and it took me three complete deceleration attempts near a wall on the passenger side for him to even understand what I was trying to explain.

I'm not sure if you are watching the same video I am, but it is extremely noticeable. I hear it very prominently. I'm not saying the product isn't great, or the the ART pipes are the component that's causing the hiss. But it's there big time. Listen again and tell me how you DON'T notice it. I know because I have it too. I hear it every time.

I understand what you're saying. I can surely hear it in the video. What I'm trying to say is when the car is in gear and gradually decelerating, the rpms don't dip as quickly. The hiss is not as rapid. It blends more if that makes sense.

I get it. Yes, you are correct. Driving down the street under normal conditions it's not nearly as prevalent as when you just rev it with no load in the garage. That is my experience also.

Since you seem to be in the loop, is there any work on when we might expect to see a full exhaust for the G37 coupe form Motordyne? I've heard almost nothing but good things from those who actually have their stuff.

Follow this thread. This is the exact issue we have been discussing above, only with answers direct from Tony. He also keeps updating the progress on Motordyne's Catback.

MOTORDYNE ART Pipes - Review - Page 38 - Nissan 370Z Forum

lot of reading, but very informative on this particular subject. and also shows the extent that motordyne reaches out to make sure their customer's are happy with their purchase.

I would absolutely love to have an exhaust from Motordyne. I think that, once they release it, it'll be something great. I never mind the hissing as long as it's not obnoxiously loud. In a way, even, it sound pretty tight to hear. Only I guess that if you're getting lots of it during deceleration, it would definitely get annoying.

Drift, how about this: Do you get any drone during city-driving when your car is around the low RPMs, say, somewhere between 1.5k - 2.5k? When you're pulling off from a light or a stop, does you get any noticeable drone then? I'm asking because I had horrible drone with my HFC's to the point where it got irritating driving around with them, and my interior even shook under load. Are you getting any of that at all?

But that will be too soon before my piggy-bank can fill up, haha! I really hope someone on this forum will get it then and launch a good review. Although I'm sure that its quality/sound will be mouth-watering.

It's a bit steep, yes. But if they do what the company says they do, it would be worth the extra price, I guess.
