Modifying Stillen Exhaust

Hey, so I like this exhaust a lot on my X sedan. I read a lot of post where people said stillen's Y pipe is a joke/restrictive etc. Now I'm no exhaust guru but taking a look at it i guess the reason is because it is funneled into one piece.

My question would be.... would it be beneficial to cut this part out (circled in red) and have two separate pipes attached to each side making it a "true dual" exhaust i guess it thats what its called?

I assume this would flow better, and result in better performance? Also would this change my sound a lot? I assume it would be deeper?

Thanks in advance guys

might be worth a shot.dont know if it would be worth it cost wise to do it.taking out the resonator would change the sound and make it alittle louder..im sure doing it you wouldnt gain much to feel anything at all..

My recommendation would be to buy an x-pipe like this one:

And have it welded in, would sound and perform better on non-turbo'd cars
