Angry HELP!: Stubborn Muffler bolts

So I've been trying to remove the coupe's stock muffler and the bolts almost seem like they're welded on. I just tried WD40 and still no help. All that's happened so far is that the heads of the bolts are starting to get rounded off.

Anyone have advice? I've never had this much trouble with something as simple as a muffler.

you need to let the exhaust cool and let the wd40 soak in. Use a generous soaking of the bolt and nut and wait about 5 minutes before trying to ge the bolt off. Also make sure that you are using the correct sized sockets to not round off the bolts.

Pblaster soak overnight. That should do the trick!

I needed to put the car on a lift and use a breaker-bar. Try soaking the bolts in pb blaster like noted above, but you may have to pay your local shop a couple of bucks to get em loosened.

If the heads are rounded off, you'll need something like this to grip them:

Craftsman | America's Most Trusted Tool Brand | Top-Selling Lawn & Garden Brand | Garage & Storage

PB Blaster works better than WD40 in my experience. Let it soak for hours, preferably overnight. Grip it with a breaker bar and go to town. If that won't get it, you may need an impact fun. Take it to a muffler ship and pay them just to break the bolts free and and the rest yourself.

Thanks for the imput guys. If I just break off the bolts where can I buy a new set. I know the stealership will be able to order em but are they a standard size that I can buy from a part store?

Planning on a custom setup but want to be able to replace the muffler if I don't like the result

always use the 6 point socket when doing stuff like that. don't ever use 12 point. those sockets will round off your bolt very fast.

this is a 6 point socket

this is a 12 point socket

just so you know the 6 point is harder to strip a bolt

If you need bolts try Ace Hardware. My cousin bought some bolts for his test pipe that he lost on his TSX.

^Thanks I'll check it out. So worst come to worst I'll just break off the bolts and buy a new set. If their standard size then there shouldn't be a problem.

I was asking because while working on my friends old jag we had to break off a bolt for the cats and afterwards could not find a replacement. Luckily he was swapping to TP so we didn't need it.
