I would recomend the tanabes if you're just looking to get a deeper tone out of the car. If performance is your goal, get a full catback. Skip the HFCs if you're getting tanabes cause your not gonna gain much keeping the factory y and mid pipe.
The Tanabe mid pipe is available, I thought only that the Y pipe is out. Y pipe $500 mid pipe probably $500, exhaust muffler $800, almost 2K. How much louder is the invidia, I looked at it, but not feeling the tips. I like the tanabe angled mufflers, and its a great sounding expensive quality muffler. Matches the mature tone to the car IMO, not 2 loud, but good enough for the mature driver, unless you want to really get performance I guess then the people are right, adding mid pipe, y pipe, or getting HKS etc. I just got the HKS pop in filter, and seeking to get the tanabe muffler.

The invidia is quieter than the tanabe. The general consensus is that it is probably the mildest aftermarket catback. Great if that's what you're looking for. There is a video from amplified of the invidia w/ berk cats and it sounds really sweet, although not as deep as some other systems. Invidia seems to produce decent gains to, which you won't see with just the tanabe muffler. I agree with you on the tips for the invidia, I am THIS close to pulling the trigger on it, but I can't decide what tips look best (single wall or rolled).
If you are looking for something louder than the gemini I would just get a FI catback, instead of piecing together all of this tanabe stuff.

Thats like sex for the ears and thats just the mufflers and hfc. I have decided I am just going to have to hear them in person.

The 370Z system is pictured as a mid pipe and mufflers and has a list price of $1390. The same Y pipe fits both our car and the 370Z and has a list price of $540 so I would guess that the full G37 cat back system (if it's sold as a complete system) would retail for $1930 or less.
I bet Lou can hook us up for a good price when it's available. Hint hint.
