FI Catback only Sound From Inside Cabin
FI Catback only Sound From Inside Cabin
Hi,
I recently installed the SS Fast Intentions Catback with Oval Canisters I bought from another member on my 08' G37S Automatic Coupe.
I had read before that people with HFC + Catback said that with windows rolled up it was comparable to stock. However this is definitely not the case for me. The best way for me to describe the sound I'm getting is if I wanted to hide the fact that I had a exhuast, I couldn't. It's like not even close to stock. Even from when I first launch my car, even with the lightest launch, you can hear a deep almost droning sound from the INSIDE of my car ( not sure if it is so noticeable on the outside ). In a more spirited (but not all out) launch, it actually almost sounds less loud. When cruising at 80 mph there's no highway drone.
Its mostly when i drive in the city. Its just pretty loud. I mean it sounds pretty cool, its just really loud. I can't imagine what this would sound like with HFC, or Headers, or straightpipe.
In my old Lexus GS400, I had what was considered loud catback exhuast installed, in addition to not having a back subwoofer installed (therefore a hole to the trunk) and this is considerably louder than that.
Is it supposed to be like this? If it is, I actually would be okay with it. I mean it sounds MEAN, but I dunno if I wanna be rippin it up in westwood 365 days of the year. But if part of the exhuast is malfunctioning, or if I need to get new gaskets to reduce the sound, then by all means id do it.
Btw I dropped by Fast Intentions to pick up a gasket earlier today, didn't get a chance to ask him about this, but Tony was really nice! The shop was spotless and looked very impressive. In the future I'd definately purchase products again made from a shop that looks like this.
