Those with Stillen Gen 3 CAI

I just got my G last week and from what I'm reading the Stillen Gen 3 will produce the most gains in performance. My question to those of you that already have it installed is this... How difficult is it to clean the filters? It seems like it would be a PITA.

If you had it to do over again, would you still go with the Gen 3 or different setup with easier to reach filters?

Depending on where you live and how many miles you put on your car yearly, you could probably get 15 - 20k out of the filters. That's over a year and a half for me, so it really isn't too bad. Plus you don't have to take off the whole bumper to get to them, just the top piece by the throttle cable.

K&N filters, what's used in the STILLEN Gen 3 intakes actually recommends 50,000 miles between cleaning unless there is an abnormal amount of dust, dirt, etc.

Some prefer less mileage, and it's up to you, but the filters carry a 1,000,000 mile warranty, and we back it as well.

There is never a need to replace the filters, a simple cleaning/recharge kit will do the trick, minimal effort on the filter cleaning, an hour on a Saturday will take care of it, every 2-4 years or so..

So cleaning the filters won't be a big issue. The other concern I had was making the fuel/air mix too lean.

Has anyone had or heard of problems with this? I read a few threads that warned of it, but never read about anyone that actually experienced the problem. It seems as long as you flash the ecu after install you wouldn't have this problem.

Thanks for the input. Im about to pull the trigger and go on an upgrade spree and want to make sure I get my facts straight before I do.

There is no issue with leaning out the vehicle, until you get to the full bolt-on including HFCs and headers. We don't recommend installing all of the following without a tuning solution:

- Gen 3 Intakes
- Cat-Back Exhaust System
- High Flow Cats
- Headers

Combination's of either HFCs or Headers are fine, but with all four tuning is recommended.

What if I just go with a cat back exhaust + HFCs? without headers?

Should I also add a Cobb AP to my shopping list?

Without headers you're good to go.. makes great power with those bolt-ons.. with the STILLEN cat-back, HFC's and Gen 3's we typically see 40-50whp..

+1 for all the stuff Josh said...I have had Gen3's on my G from almost the day I picked it up (one of my first mods) and I LOVE them. They are easy (IMHO) to install, easy to clean, and they arent crappy paper filters that fall apart after 5000 miles. They sound and look awesome, as well as giving some great #'s

Same, I was very lean. I was getting up to 13.4 range at wide open throttle. I made great power after the tune and I'm down to about 12.6 at redline.

Staples, what's your setup? Do you have test pipes too or HFCs?
