RPi Intake Scoops Prototypes

Sorry for the delay but here is a breakdown of what happened with the intake scoop prototype for the G37.

Had to relocate the driver side horn due to no access to the OEM intake scoop.

Trying to figure out a low cost and efficient way to redirect air to the driver side intake but they ran out of time since i needed the vehicle for the Seibon Customer Appreciation Day.

So they only had time to make a prototype intake scoop for the passenger side intake.

They strapped it on the dyno and did 3 pulls. Stock, with 1 intake scoop on the passenger side, and another with a Stage +1 flash from the COBB AP.

Here is the dyno:

As you can see there is no gains with the intake scoop on the 1 side but you can see a increase on low and mid torque and horsepower.

Scheduling for the driver side intake prototype soon and i will keep you all updated on that.

How did you get a huge torque bump at 2150rpm? the gains on a DD are pretty good. What other mods do you have?

stock with a COBB AP. The Green line was done the day after when i ask them if it was ok to dyno with the 1 intake scoop and my COBB AP installed

that huge torque bump is what happens when you ram air to the stock intakes...

no the prototypes are not camera ready yet, it was basically a squared scoop, they are going to paint it and add the brackets once the product is finished.

yea pretty amazing what a scoop can do, that's just with 1 scoop, i can't wait til we prototype the driver side intake and see if it'll lead to some gains in horsepower. If not, it still has some significant low and mid range gain which is pretty good in my book...

Let me get this right>

Blue - Stock
Red - Stock + Cobb AP
Green - Stock + Cobb AP + 1 RPI Scoop

is this correct? so the Cobb AP gave you the torque jump and the single scoop gave an increase throughout the range?

EDIT: I still can't believe you gained 23whp and 55wtq at 2150RPM just from the Cobb AP :O
Can we see the A/F ratio next time you do a dyno run?

I have a hard time believing that. At that low of an RPM on the STREET, and at that corresponding MPH (at 2100rpm), you aren't getting that much air in there in real world conditions. The fact that you had an 80-100 mph fan blowing on there while strapped to the dyno probably accounts for the difference.

I'm not knocking the product (cause they actually work on the 3 at HIGH speeds), but in the real world there's no way you'd see that gain at that RPM.

Someone tell me otherwise...

Green : 1 passenger side intake scoop with stage +1 Cobb AP

No AF on the blue and red only on the green when I datalogged for mass air flow but can't really compare the af since the stage +1 flash runs rich.

Cobb gave me 7.7 whp with the scoop

True there was a 70 mph fan on there which on low speed wouldn't br realistic in the real world but look at the mid end when the car reaches 70mph+ u can still see by using the scoops as a ram air to the OEM filters there is some gain in torque and whp. Remember this is with only 1 scoop in the passenger side intake.

It's ok geeeooh. If this mod fails then you can always change your G into a ice cream car and use the scoop to scoop ice cream.
