Magnaflow or Borla for Turbo

Hey guys,

Need your insight. For someone who plans to go turbo in the not so distant future, which would be a better exhaust setup? magnaflow or borla? I limited it down to those two choices because of their favorable sound and cost. Magnaflow has a 2.5 inch piping while borla as 2.25. However, I've read some posts where people say borla flows better and gives better horsepower. What do you guys think? Thanks

J

well first of all those two exhaust you had them in ur mind are not really powerful... If you wanna go with 2.5" with TT then HKS is ur friend.. it have H pipe all the way to dual muffler.. and this what TT need:P

but if u wanna go 3" exhaust which is a must for TT then GTM 3" exhaust is ur friend

Well, HKS is not 2.5" it's 60mm which equals 2.36 inches. Borla, which might be slightly smaller at 2.25" also has the H pipe all the way to the muffler.

I'm not so worried about the price as to the sound. I want to attract the least amount of attention while still having decent sounding and flowing exhaust. With that said, 3" exhausts are better for FI but are very loud. I know Terry is running a 2.25"' FI exhaust and he's making decent power.

If you are going SC then you can use the Magnaflow or even Fast Intentions as both are 2.5". For TT you will need 3" and I think the only one available right now is GTM.

The borla has 1 muffler so it has a stock look with just bigger tips.

AAM's 3" is pure junk. When you're doing an exhaust that big under our cars it has to be perfect fitment otherwise it'll start hitting against the chassis or swaybar (as I've seen multiple times with their exhaust).

GTM's 3" Turbo Exhaust would be the way to go if you plan to take the TT route. You won't be seeing the maximum potential of that kit (which isn't very cheap btw) if you go with 2.5" though. X-pipes, H-pipes etc have been designed for N/A applications to create sufficient back pressure to get some low-end torque, using those on a turbo set up would create back pressure which not only would hurt performance, but might also decrease the life of that turbo as a whole. You want pipes as straight as possible from the down pipes all the way to the tips.
