Y-Pipe + HFC's

Hey guys...tried searching but i didnt really find much...

Anyone try installing the Exhaust Depot Y-Pipe and Berk HFC's at the same time? Will this increase or decrease power? I'll be installing the Stillen 3G intakes as well. I would appreciate any help.

There would be no reason for it to decrease in power....your just opening up the pipes for more airflow

Don't be surprised to lose low end torque with increased flow and decreased back pressure.

this is exactly my concern. While this combo may give a rise in HP at the top end of the rpm range, it my sacrafice low end torque. Thats not really good for street driven cars that don't have to rev to redline at every shift like track car, this will equate to a sluggish street car.

However, if there is someone who has this combo that has dyno'ed their car and there is a rise in HP and Torque aross the rpm range then this might be a combo im interested in.

To be clear, this combo can be done while keeping the stock muffler correct?

yes you can keep the stock muffler. The Y-pipe bolts on to the mid-pipe, the mid-pipe bolts to the stock muffler. I am planning on taking my G in to be dyno'ed this week because of the fact that I am unhappy about losing low-end torque with the bolt-ons that I have. Hopefully the pro-tuner guys can help me figure this out. One option might be to re-install the stock muffler to provide some back-pressure. I'll update the thread with results when I get 'em.

Hey UFO do you think if you took off your Tanabe's and just go with a
full catback exhaust
that you would gain back your lost low end torque

Maybe, I don't know. I'm hoping I can get some answers when I get the car dyno'd. I wish I would have done more research on this before going the way I did, though, with piecing in different exhaust components. The Tanabe's were something like $550, the XYZ-pipe was another $450, so already I was into it for $1K. Bottom line for me is this is a street car, I want horse power off the line, not at 6000 RPM. I'm not gonna be hitting 90 mph on the street.

you're going to lose torque anytime you change your stock exhaust to something with more flow. now losing 1-2 down low may be worth gaining a few more hp up high.

i still feel bolt-ons for these cars are mostly for sound though. if you want power, you need to go f/i.
