If I'm not mistaken....I thought bolt on mod gains were NOT linear??? Example: intakes 5hp + exhaust 7hp + HFC's 8hp = 20hp. I thought it didn't work like that?

It doesn't work like that, but I think that is how the article did it.

Exactly my point....they added all of their gains individually to get a total (which is BS). Did they do a dyno with all 4 mods together? I must have missed that part.....

So I'm just curious....I know that some people say that adding intakes (which I just did this weekend) will lower your torque as compared to stock. Are there any other mods that you can do that will bring the torque back up? I'm a newb and still trying to learn.

TT

Most NA mods you sacrifice low end torque for high end HP, at least for our car it does. I can't think of any that would add low end torque . . . maybe someone else can chime in.

i've NEVER heard of any bolt-on that will add low-end torque...to any vehicle!

unless u start touching internals or FI

Yeah, from the reading I've done Forced Induction is the only way to boost low end torque. Oh well, I love my Injen intakes....so we'll see how they keep performing as they break-in even more.

just remember to wash and oil them every few months...once they get dirty, you'll really feel the engine become a lot more sluggish....

and even with forced induction, we're only talking supercharger...cause turbo has turbo lag...well i guess you could with nos too...but u wouldn't want to use nos off the line..it'd be a waste

Actually my new intakes are the Injen Short Rams that have the new Amsoil non-oiled nanofiber filters. They supposed to be cleaned once a year or every 25,000 miles with a vacuum and shop air. So, we'll see how they hold up and if I'll clean them more frequently than that. I'm just curious to see if I'll pick up more torque once the Intakes break-in for a while. Maybe it's in my head, but I remember when I punched the gas with the stock system, it would throw you back in your seat a bit....now, it doesn't throw me back as much....it's there, just not as strong. Maybe it's in my head...lol. What's funny is that the Injen dyno showed a torque increase across the rpm range....so maybe they'll pick up. I read another person's review on here who said the same thing, but a few weeks after having them, he said they really came alive and he had a different (better) driving experience.....who knows?

The gains listed in the article were cumulative as they added parts. Mike Kojima is the real deal; there is no ricer math going on.... Take your time; reading comprehension is key.... Here are the cliff notes:

Stock= 267HP/220TQ

Stock+Stillen Gen 3 Intake= 270/216 (+3HP/-4TQ) **note that with the bumper cover off, they got +10 more HP--that is a good sign for the G's, as the air filter is behind the grill and not the solid bumper cover as it is on the 370Z

Stock+Stillen Gen 3 Intake+Stillen exhaust= 276/219 (+6HP/+3TQ)

Stock+Stillen Gen 3 Intake+Stillen exhaust+Berk HFC= 282/225 (+6HP/+6TQ)

Stock+Stillen Gen 3 Intake+Stillen exhaust+Berk HFC+TS reflash= 287/229 (+5HP/+4TQ)
