^^ true, but my dilemma is I don't want an intake to be too loud through most rpms...I LOVE the stock sound of the car and how it isn't obnoxiously loud, yet sounds sporty and aggressive. An ideal intake for me would ONLY have sound when it hits the higher gears, such as when accelerating hard.

I just feel like I need an intake for some reason though lol

 

Noob question - How often does the Injen filters needs to be cleaned and do they provide instructions on how to clean them?

 

i'd also like to know how often we need to clean the non oiled injen filters.

 

Trip,.. a lot of the intakes don't make that much sound or power till you're above 4K RPM, which is pretty similar to stock, and during average casual driving one prob shifts between 3-4k.. ? so occasionally it'll hit a nice growl before shifting.. and then like you said, when you wanna open it up you'll sound more aggressive.. =P

do they sound the same even? gains are not noticeable between the two I'd imagine so sound and looks is what I'm going for...

 

one benefit a lot of Injen CAI intake owners I know say they wish they had the new short rams instead is cause absolutely no worries of sucking in water.. while a bunch of us here live in fair weather Cali and it's not as likely, over the past X years, thanks to global warming, when it pours here it pourssss!.. I'm getting the black short rams soon and will have no worries..

many people like the short ram look with the big, colored filters in sight when you pop your hood.. but everyone has their own preference on looks.. some went CAI cuz they generally put out more power.. and/or cold airs have their own distinct sound.. that's up to your preference too..

 

I will wait to hear sound clips of the injen SRI. I don't have to worry about heat soak or sucking in water, so I am basically choosing whatever sounds better lol

Yes, and yes. If you don't want to bother with CAI install or price, I like the Injen SRI for their design and heat shield, very solid. Can't say about the sound but I'd imagine it to be similar to JWT, which was pretty nice.

Given that you're looking for sound and looks and maybe price, there isn't that many choices for you to pick from. Unless there something else you're thinking about getting?

Is there still a chance of getting heat soak with the new Injen SRI's ? thats what basically stoping me from getting them. I would like to get short ram intakes that give you some power and sound, but I also don't wan't them to suck up hot air into the engine.

 

There's always a chance of heat soak with SRI but if you have heat shield, it'll help. It's all give and take.

CAI: cold air (not warm air from injen), sounds nice, more gain, less convenient
SRI: warm air (prone to heat soak, heat shield will help), sounds nice too, less gain, easier to deal with

SRI is not cold air, so heat soak will happen, just whether or not you have some shields to block most of the heat or not.
