Questions on headers

So I'm real close to pulling the trigger on those. I've done some searching but didn't get what I'm looking for. I've also noticed many members asking questions here and there on them so this'll probably turn into a headers FAQ. I mean I could PM neverbonestock and AZG37 and get the info for myself but I'd rather share with everyone instead

Now, I know this'll probably lean out my engine pretty much which is why I might not see much gains, but the reflash is coming pretty soon too, so let's see what this will turn into.

Yes, the installation is one big pain in the ****, but hey I won't be doing it lol the guy who did my test pipes is pretty good I can trust him with my car on this. Here are some concerns I have though:

I was told that they cause the engine to heat up more causing oil consumption and oil leaking issues I was also told they cause reliability issues, and last thing I want is that. This is my daily driver by the end of the day. I have no experience with headers can those of you with that chime in?

Installing those is pricey, not the best mod to do trial and error with. Your feedbacks are much appreciated people.

Since you will be removing your oem headers and heat shields I would recommend some type of coating. Your engine temps will rise a little without shields or a coating . I have mine jet-hot coated and there is no xtra heat.. Also headers do not cause oil consumption . Mine is a daily driver also and I have ZERO issues.. You are right though , headers installed on a G are a Biatch ..

I have absolutely no idea where the oil consumption part comes from. Oil consumption is controlled by your oil ring on the piston and there is absolutely NO relation between the two. As NBS said, headers do produce more heat since there is much less metal to absorb combustion heat. Jet-hot is popular as he said, so it exhaust heat wrap/thermal wrap.
You know I really dont understand why these engines done respond to simple add-ons like headers. Im pretty sure this engine uses a MAF meter instead of the speed-density method, so it can accurately predict A/F. A MAF measures air flow directly and can compensate quite a bit, compared to speed-density or N-alpha methods. Can anyone chime in and verify these use the MAF method?

I had headers on my 350Z without any problem. Mine was ceramic coated, I don't know if it even matter but heat will always be there. Only negative thing I could say was it sound like you have an exhaust leak from the front area due to a thinner wall. Butt dyno felt the same and I never got the chance to tune it. Hope that helps.

what you guys need to know about headers? All i got to say is, if you want headers, dont buy any right now IN MY OPINION alot will be coming out, so no point settling for the Stillen that is available.

Also, IT'S A PAIN IN THE ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSS to install In my g35 it took us 5-6 hours LOL
