Can I add only muffler/tail pipe to stock? - What will mount?

I did a bit of searching and didn't come across this, so I hope this isn't a re-post.

I just called my local Infiniti dealer and asked if an exhaust would affect the warranty and he said that I'm safe to put on a muffler and tail pipe, but nothing forward.

I'm not exactly sure what that means, I assume it's just like a slip on for a street bike/ATV? If that is the case, does anyone know of a muffler/tail pipe that will mount the the stock head pipes (or whatever they're called)?

Also, I don't care if there are any HP gains. The only reason I want this is for sound.

Thanks in advanced!

I can only think of Tanabe Medallion & Greddy Ti-C that are muffler only

Just for your info, our exhausts are in the following order: (arranged from engine to tips)
Header Pipes -> Catalytic Converter (aka Cats) -> y-pipe -> mid pipes -> muffler and tips (they usually come as one part)

Warranty is voided on parts you replace but not on the whole car, salesman will always say it'll void to save himself the headache of course.

^you forgot the reasonators which are with the mid pipes.

magnaflow if you are just looking for sound, or aeroturbines. You can do a cat-back exhaust which is the most popular. You can also buy the tips and muffer separately depending on your preference. Magnaflow has a quality system for pretty cheap if you buy from one of our vendors. Cat-back Exhaust or try our Vendor. They are easily bolted on.

Megan Racing, Tanabe Medallion, and Greddy Ti-C are the 3 available choices that come to mind. You will get minimal HP & TQ gain, but they will give you sound and looks. I had the Tababe and it was great. Just slightly too loud for me, but since I got rid of it now I miss it.

There are several ways to go about this. I chose the most expensive and least practical way. If you are just looking for a nice sound, try the Tanabe Medallion. These are basically just new mufflers and bolt right on to the OEM mid-pipe. You can change this out yourself in an hour. The look very impressive as well. That was the first thing I did and then it just left me wanting more...

Thanks for all the responses. Is this all I would need? - https://www.myg37.com/forums/support...low-price.html

Also, would I need to get an aftermarket air filter when adding just the muffler/tips, or can I just bolt that on and go? I know with ATV's they require new jetting/fuel injection maps, but I know cars are more advanced and I assume don't require anything like that.

Also, I'm leaning toward either the Tanabe Medalion or the GReddy Ti-C. Are they both around the same loudness?

They are the two extremes when it comes to exhaust. Tanabe is for the low profile driver that wants a soft and OEM tone, but I think they are pretty aggressive and loud, others would disagree with me on this. Greddy, as we all know is the killer sound and is nice and deep, yet the looks of it is hard for many of us to pull the trigger on.

eBay. People have gotten them for 500ish on eBay. I once saw one on eBay for 450 shipped!

I had the Tanabe. They are by no means quiet, I don't know where that ever came from but not from anyone who's owned them. They have a great tone and are substantially louder an deeper than stock. I know of at least 2 others besides me who got rid of them because they were loud. I do miss them though, they sounded great, just a little too loud for me.

OEM exhaust FTW! I'm still a car newbie (but getting more addicted daily), and I honestly love the sound of our stock exhaust. The staff at my apartment office say they can always hear my G inside as I drive by on my way to work.....love it.

Knox, I think it's a great stock sound as well, but it's just sounds so tame inside the car.

I ordered the Tanabe yesterday and it's suppose to be here Friday, can't wait!
