FI+FI or BORLA+BERK

so i'm pretty sure this might have been discussed before more times than i can count, but my eyes hurt from reading every thread containing the words FI or Borla, which caused my spontanious joining. pretty much, i've been looking into exhausts and cats for quite some time now and i dont know where to finish. i origionally told myself to get the borla exhaust with the berk HFC, but then reading through the threads made me start to question that with the FI exhaust and HFC. the price really an issue. i like the sounds of both of them and would be fine with either borla or FI, but if i just want to know when i hit the gas my head's gonna spin more times than a merry go round, which direction am i looking at?

it's just a personal preference, have you heard sound clips of both? i'm assuming you have... if you get FI + HFC it'll drone really bad if you cruise... i only have the borla and no HFC, although i'm putting them on soon. the reason i say this is because i rode in my friends car, Kream with hfc + fi, it droned and got really annoying.

Berk HFC & FI HFC performance wise are exactly the same since theyre both made from the magnaflow cat, only difference is the quality of the build

I'm going with test pipes so no drone for me

It's tough to choose i wish you could try first then buy.....05 g35 had BorlaEx/Injen intake no cats sounded good..06 g35 had StillenEx/Injen intake/Strup Headers/ AAM hfc.and the sound and power also good..08 g37s MagnaflowEx/AAM hfc/Stillen long tube intake.. it also sounds good... My magnaflow on its own sounded as good as my Borla did on its own.........GOOD LUCK

Considering that I am the only one that has had both setups on the forums... (i think) I can easily say go with FI + FI because of the tone alone.... Hands down its would of the best sounding exhausts I have EVER heard... Quality is there... and damn it looks soo sexy....

FI = FTW.

sound wise, they both sound appealing to me although i think i'm leaning more towards the borla on the sound. i finished putting in my stillen gen 3's and learned that it wasnt too bad. about 2 hours by myself i think, but just on raw numbers, which would give me that extra go?

do u guys think that the smaller piping on the borla exhaust will be a problem if i decide to go all out and get the forced induction in the future? cuz if so, then that'll change everything... if so i'll most deffinately go for the carbon fiber FI s

Correction my good friend Sam. Our cat's are nothing like Berk's. We no longer use the Magnaflow cats. We have not since the end of last year. There were a few factors as to why we switched over. First and foremost as most of you already know the Magnaflow cats became very hard for us to obtain being that they are in California and so are we. The new law states that OBD I cats cannot be sold to anyone in California by anyone in or out of California. Obviously we could of bought them out of state and had them shipped here but then it would start to become a headache. We also grew tiered of dealing with the slow turnaround time from Magnaflow. Lastly we have noticed in the cats that were run off towards the middle of last year to the present, that more and more cars were throwing CEL lights. Not just on G37'S but many other platforms that we work on. With all of this we decided to go another route. We spent alot of time doing research and found in our opinion, a better cat. The construction of the cat itself is far more superior. The metallic foil itself looks more durable and the shell is slightly thicker. They are a little longer as well so they are a little more restrictive. However, this will cause fewer issues i.e. CEL lights down the road.

BTW Sam,

The CF exhaust & R.T.P'S are leaving tomorrow on their way to you. Thanks for the order, again...

Tony
