In that case, you should get both the Taneba exhaust and Y-pipe. I have them on my car and I love it.

Didn't register on my Butt dyno at all. Still it's one of the best looking and sounding exhausts and the price has dropped quite a bit.

Even the G35 version sounds nice. At first I was torn between Magnaflow, Amuse Ti and Fast Intentions Catback exhausts but now I'm getting turned on to the Tanabe Medallion and Greddy EVO 2 Exhausts.

+1 on the HD

+2 on the Engine breaking and quiet sound <3K RPM. I love it

Do you have a clip of it with a cold start idle with a couple revs? That would be nice and I would so much appreciate if you had a clip like that too! Thanks in advance

Heff, I like the sound of it! Its growing on me. Its not stock sound (which I love) but its not far off either.

Greddy EVO 2 (startup/rev)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/pWwQc1CRDVc&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/pWwQc1CRDVc&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(Takeoff.....)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/bGUlvmvcveQ&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/bGUlvmvcveQ&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Tanabe Medallion Touring (Startup)

(Take off....stayed in gear longer= hear more of that gurgle sound)

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/EWQzIQ9LqT0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en& feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/EWQzIQ9LqT0&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en& feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

To me the Tanabe Medallion Touring and Evo 2 are a toss up. I need to hear both and see them in person to make up my mind.

Just have to find some local folks with both for me to hear them out. As for the Amuse, I'd love to toss that one in the mix as well but at nearly 3,000 its definitely not on the practical list.

I can get a nice used Vortech V2 for that

Interesting 3 choices...

Magnaflow--- $470

FI CF --- $1500

Amuse --- Like $4k (right?)

Where the hell did you come up with those three choices?

I was thinking the samething, but it could have something to do with compression. The lower the compression, the deeper the tone? The 37 is an HR, so they use different pistons and rods to create the 11:1 compression which in terms could change the exhaust sound.

old thread I know but I am 98% sold on the tanabe. This seems relatively quiet when cruising and not under load. How much quieter is it without the Y-pipe? Quieter in lower rpm range is better (2200 ish) I really only want it to sound nice when hard accelerating not just cruising. People seem to have mixed thoughts...so basically I'm wondering how much the Y-pipe added to volume.

thanks

I just got mine about 3 weeks ago, ImoI think its not that quiet in the car while driving at low rpms , unless you barely gas it , you will definetly hear it driving normally (shifting at 2.5k to 3.5k). But from the outside however, its not loud really, just an amplified version of the stock. As for me, its sounds pretty mean and I recently added some test pipes too and it sounds much meaner now. I'm making a video of it later this evening, just not now cause its 100 out =]

^^thanks man. See this is why I'm confused a lot of people say it's not quiet, some say it's very quiet. My guess would be the AT guys think it's quiet since the car will be in low rpm's while cruising (1400 ish) at about 40mph. This is where I want it quietest.
