Question Does anyone dislike the exhaust they have??

I am wondering if anyone has an exhaust that they do not like. If possible please list reasons why you dont like your exhaust. I need all the input I can get. I can only get one exhaust and I am going to be stuck with it for at least two years.

All I want is to hear what they have to say in one place. I've searched for hours and basically I have come up with HKS as the top dog, but I would still like to know whats good and whats bad.

All you want is for everything to be convienient for you and to be in one thread so you dont have to use your brain or fingers much. Thats the right way to put it.

If you searched for hours you mightve found that Amuse is the top dog, try 3000 for some straight pipes, and 2600 for a muffler setup. If you searched the forums you'd understand what exhaust is right for you. If you searched the forums you mightve seen dyno charts, clips, etc. If you searched for hours you mightve even found this:

Give the guy a break, it's a legitimate question. All the other threads on exhaust systems have been praise and install/pic/video threads. You don't see follow up threads about what sucks down the road about the setup that people are running.

I wish I could give you input, but I just installed my hfc's and borla, so I don't have a "it's been x amount of months and I think ______ about the exhaust". In a couple weeks I got to get back under the car and make sure everything is tight after a few warm up/cool down cycles.

^^ Agree.

I've had my exhaust installed for about 5 Months; I'm somewhat happy with it, however will be changing to probably a Borla soon. My exhaust had this terrible rattle at first, and had to be replaced twice.

My exhaust brand - Infiniti.

On a side note, I've always wondered why tfmbigdog99 isn't called TMFbigdog99 instead.

it would be nice to see if consumers have negative thoughts or buyers remorse on exhaust systems they buy. all i ever read is how great ppl think they are because we all know they will be better then there previous (usually stock). usually all i can find is pics, vids, and talks of how awesome they are. i recently was lookin for some pros and cons between the 2 i was stuck between (FICF and HKS) but ppl that purchase them only talk great things. it then came down to the customer service side and FI took the win. seems like most ppl like the FI, HKS, and Borla

If you read any of my posts the statement above is not true. I wrote and posted detailed pics of Magnaflow when it first came out. I also ended up selling it because it just became too loud for my wife, I mean my , tastes.

Then I went to Stillen after careful review and reading regarding sound levels. This was a new post with pics from me. I'll always give an honest breakdown to the best of my ability and there are many others here which do the same such as bboysteele, maxtotheG, etc...

But since you asked, I've owned two of these and installed or have experience with the others. All have good and bad aspects as do almost all aftermarket performance parts. The key to an exhaust is to listen to it after a break-in period on someone's car.

Magnaflow
Pros: Price, Tip alignment adjustability, Lightweight, Throaty-raspy sound (some)
Cons: Somewhat sloppy welds, Loud drone at certain rpm's

Stillen
Pros: Thoughtful design (uses stock vibration mounts), Fit and Finish, Mature sound
Cons: Not loud enough (some), U-bolt clamps are chintzy for a $1K system, Heavy

Borla
Pros: Fit and Finish, Crossover Pipe, Lightweight, Very throaty sound (some)
Cons: Loud (some), Pricey

Tanabe
Pros: Easy install, Nice mellow tone, Great look
Cons: Not a real power gain, Mild tone increase, Pricey for two muflers only

I have the Tanabe Medallion. I liked it a lot because it was a little louder but has a great mellow throaty tone without drone and wasn't too loud. I just installed Berk HFCs and now it is a lot louder and drones some while cruising. Probably too loud for me now so I'll likely be selling it and going with something else. Probably the Invidia catback.

I like my Borla setup a lot. At first when I installed the exhaust and let it break-in it sounded way too raspy for my taste, so I had two 12" resonators welded in and couldn't be happier! I probably have $1,800 invested in my system including the price of the exhaust, 2 resonators, and the shop welding them in.

By the way, Borla's exhaust is pretty damn loud, even with the resonators, it's still loud lol.
