Reflash needed or not?

I currently have a magnaflow catback system on order. And I was considering ordering a stillen gen 3 CAI. I have been reading up on this subject and some people notice a decrease in power. Will i notice hp gains or will i need to get my ecu reflashed? Or can i just reset my ecu by unplugging the battery overnight so the ecu can pick up the changes with the new bolt ons? I live in vancouver canada and i cant make it to Cali to get a reflash done. Any help would be great on this matter.

Do a google search for Cobb tuning. If or when Cobb comes out with their Access Port for the G37, it allows you to reflash the stock ECU with custom maps they have on their site. These maps will help out but they are not that great when compared to a custom map for your parts. And you will not be able to do a custom tune with the Cobb AP due to them not releasing the software to do it. They have said they plan to release it but I doubt that will ever happen. If you have a Cobb certified shop around you then you might be able to talk to them and they might be able to get a custom map for your car from Cobb.

What are you talking about? Who said you needed a reflash with any part you put on the G? The Stillen CAI should (need the independant dynos to make this a Will) give you gains regardless if you do a reflash or not. When the Cobb is finally released it will be a good tool to get more power out of your car and your mods. Regardless whether you are in Vancouver or not you can always send you ECU off to Technosquare to get reflashed. Should take less than a week. If you are not willing to wait a week for more performance out of your car then that is something you will need to weight.

It's still worth getting any intake system. A reflash or tune just helps to get the most power by tuning your ecu to your specific mods. If you plan to do more mods in the future, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND getting waiting and purchasing the Cobb Access port, especially if you don't have a tuner near you. You don't really have to come all the way to SoCal to do the reflash. You can actually just mail your ECU and it can be reflashed. It won't have a custom reflash, but it will still make a huge difference. Technosquare can do all the ECU relashing for you, but they charge every time you want another reflash, which you might or might not want to get every time you get a new mod. The Cobb access port allows you to download maps from their website, that will allow you to tune your ECU at home. They're currently doing the beta testing for the Cobb Access port.

Just remember every time you add a mod to optimize gains you want a tune.. Not alot going for us G37 owners right now but there should be more EMS coming out soon . Everything is on backburner right now..

^Yeah, especially with the big arms race going on right now for the GTR, and who knows what's gonna happen once the 370Z releases.

tuning is the only way to go. When you change the airflow dynamics of a car, you need to recalibrate,
