I made it out to Technosqaure today (Monday, Oct 13). As posted before....I had the Gen 3 intakes installed at Stillen last week on my car which had a prior technosquare reflash, Stillen HFC's, exhaust, grounding kit and UR crank pulley. When I had the Gen 3 intakes put on last week I felt an immediate power difference and I was impressed.

After a second reflash today it feels even more amazing. The car really pulls harder. I don't spend money on dynos as stated before because I like to go by feel. The sound is pretty mean too but of course that sound is mixed with the sound of the HFC which is aggressive sounding by itself.

I'll be taking the car to the track in November at the Toys4Tots event in Cali. so I'll see how they perform. This weekend I tortured my car and had no problems with these Gen 3's.

Oh I forgot one thing....I asked Tadashi (from Technosquare) what he thought about the intakes. He simply said, "Feels strong."

So you didn't get a custom tune? He used a tune that he put on another persons car? I do not see how he could tune your car properly without dynoing it and logging the engine values.

I pulled my car into his shop and told him that I had new intakes. He hooked his computer up to my ECU and did something that made it feel faster...not sure if he calls it a tune or just a second reflash. Once you have your car intitially reflashed, he recommends you come back for another reflash if you add any other bolt-ons.

He doesn't use a tune from "another persons car". What they have is a general reflash, kinda like using a template or a mold, and that's what they use on everyone's car, which is why there's a base price, and then you pay extra if you want a custom tune to the specific mods you have.

I think it just counts as a second flash. He would've put your car on the dyno if he was gonna tune it.

I mean by just looking at it, it looks like it blocks about 35% of the radiator.. that's a little worrying especially if you're looking to track the car.
This was my original observation from the original thread. 1) About 1/3 of the surface area of the radiator is being blocked off. 2) The coat that protects the filters routes the air coming into the grill AROUND the filters, in which case, a lot of it will be bouncing off the radiator surface and being sucked into the filters - this defeats the purpose of calling it a "cold air intake." 3) In slow or bumper to bumper traffic, the car will be sucking in wonderful radiator heat.

Though the kit looks great/fancy and seems to sound great, it just does not seem practical to me, and it seems like it could potentially hurt the performance of the car under certain circumstances.

Again, other than a grill and fans, has anyone ever seen a manufacturer place anything else in front of the radiator? I know I haven't. As a matter of fact, they don't even use pusher fans anymore, instead, puller fans are being used behind the radiator to allow greater airflow to the front of the radiator.

Our cars already have issues with going into limp mode when being tracked from heat. I think ultimately what track users are going to have to do is runner a cooler thermostat. I have mentioned that before.

I just wanna see some dynos then I'm sold. I think that if we had some dynos on a car that has been run hard vs. a car being dyno'd cold, that would stop a lot of the bickering/speculation on here. Personally, I'm excited to get it, but I'm not going to if the stated gains aren't there on a third party dyno.
