So here is the Truth about the Injen Intakes...
I think over all I will like it... but I am still unhappy about a few things...
especailly not knowing the whole deal about the install and what you lose with it...
Read below

Here is the driver side wheel well.

Ok... to my suprise ... intructions called for relocation of the HORN. I was like WTF
but oh well... I said F that... Instead of relocating the horn... I just bent the sucker up outta the way... heres a pic of the OEM location. I didnt get a pic of my Rigging but Ill describe what I did... Lets say the horn is pointed at 3 oclock... I just bent the bracket to make the horn point toward 7oclock.... its outta the way...

You will lose alot of Washer fluid... not to mention... you loose the warning harness that tells when its low. Comparision pics below.

And heres where I hit a DEFECT... Then MAF sensors you take outta the stock boxes slide right in the tube. see pic. well... the drive side went right in... screwed tight... done... get to the passenger side...and bam... wont go in.... WTF
... So i look in there... notice the left side there is metal in there that wont let the MAF slide all the way in... WOW... are you kidding me? I gotta help fabricate my own damn intake...
So I called Injen... 3 diffent numbers... left messages... no return call... must be really busy there... I decided to Try Jerry at Injen on AIM and see what he said... He said and I quote... "Try to file it down" and then said " Well We rushed to get this out for you..." So I kinda got a lil pissed... but o well... Lets go Macgyver style on this bish... I pull out a dremel and go to town... 10 minutes and its fixed... if you have to do this... make sure you clean the metal shavings out of the tube... Heres the pics...

^^ Pretty obvious huh??
With the horn outta the way... I slide the driver tube in

OK I LIED... HERES A PIC OF THE HORN BENT DOWNWARD...lol

And far away soo you can see it all... *keep plastic on to keep from scratching your tubes*

Heres what the pass. side looks like with the Washer bottle REMOVED

and another

Brown Harness is LOW LEVEL warning and Grey harness is for the fluid pump.

Here is the New Fluid Bottle "wired up" ... it has the pump and brackets installed...

another

After the bottle was screwed in... all that was left was to slap the filters on... at this point i was over the install so... so more install pics were taken.
But... To answer the question of how easy it is to clean the filters... or get to them to be able to clean them...
Easy ... 5 mins each side... prolly unscrewing 4-5 screws ...thats it....
And now...
Installed...

Looking down the driver side... notice the vibramount in the factory intake grommet. As you can see in the next 2 pics... I left the factory air ducts... Seems like it would allow air to hit the tube and cool it... and It does NOT get in the wat... so ...why take it out?

Pass side looking down

heres a bug that joined me the last hour... sat there forever!!!

And thats it...
Wait...
did i forget something??
nope....
Oh yea....
a
Video...
just one real quick... till tomorrow

Ok... hers the facts about the injen intakes...
You do not have to take off the bumper
You are suppose to relocate the horn
I did NOT relocate the horn
You are suppose to take out the factory air ducts
I did not take them out
I did everything through the wheel wells
With 2 jack stands and a Jack
Washer fluid bottle is a heck of a lot smaller
No Fluid warning light anymore
Filters sit right behind the Fake Air grilles.
There was a Metal Defect in one of my tubes
Can any old Joe do this install? Yes... I believe so... but if your doubting yourself... have it installed... I do think this was a PITA install...
If you still wanna try to install it and your a rookie... allow 5 hrs at least. Just to take your time
If your a pro/mechanic doing at you house ... allow about 3 hrs give or take a lil.
It took me about 6 hrs with having to stop and figure out the Defective tube shizznit...
Impression...
Well you will have to wait till tomorrow... I didnt drive it... The Vid was the only time I started it... It was late... i was tired... and my wifes car was blocking me in... BLAH...
so more tomorrow... until then... ask away...

Sounds good, but honestly doesn't seem to be worth the hassle. I guess we should just stick with short ram intakes for a while until Injen decides a different approach. Glad you finally got it hooked up though!
Thanks for the review.
I sure hope it dyno's well casue I would hate to go through all that work otherwise.
Reading this, seeing the QC issues, losing 2/3 of my washer fluid, no low level light, and still no dyno actually makes me glad mine is not here yet. Also makes me wonder if I am going to scratch the black tubes trying to get them installed....makes me want to look at the JWT again.
Anyway, enjoy your vacation

Nice job. Hopefully the defect was a one time thing. When's the dyno coming?
