Hey Guys,

I hope you don't mind me jumping in here and offering up some information.

Magnaflow makes a GREAT product. They are well known for producing a low, aggressive rumble without being raspy or "overbearing." They do us 409 Stainless Steel just like the rest of us.

In regards to the question about slip joints. There is a very good reason for using slip joints. First and foremost, most factory exhaust systems these days are crooked from the factory. In fact the 350Z and G35 crowds have been well known for experiencing this issue. We have seen vehicles come in to our shop and the FACTORY exhaust is off by as much as 1.5 inches. After doing some measuring and checking we have found that some of the factory exhaust hangers are not always put in the exact same location every time. So basically this means that if you have an exhaust with no adjustment points (i.e. slip joints) then your new aftermarket exhaust will also be crooked. By building in slip joints into the exhaust you can make sure that your system lines up perfectly every time.

Also, a properly installed slip joint will not leak. If you have access to a lift while installing your exhaust I recommend starting the engine while the vehicle is in the air. Get underneath the car and start FEELING for exhaust leaks. By that I mean don't be afraid to feel around the exhaust joints. Don't actually touch the pipe, keep your hands an inch or two away from the pipe so you don't get burned but if there is a leak you will at least feel it.

With that explanation out of the way I will say that some companies use more slip joints than others. Our exhaust only uses 3 slip joints while it looks like Magnaflow uses 9. There are many reasons why they would do this.

Unfortunately I can not make any claims for Magnaflow as far as power goes. Like our rep said, an aftermarket exhaust SHOULD make between 8-10 RWHP but it all comes down to individual exhausts and I can not speak for Magnaflow on this one...

If this thing can make gains like the borla at half the price, then I'm sold.

Back when the 350z's first came out, a buddy of mine (2003z on most of the forums) and I were looking for an exhaust to get a little more growl out of the car. He got a magna flow muffler custom installed on the car and it sounded awesome. He eventually replaced it with a Bola though. I would assume that it sounds good, but no clue on gains.

I ordered it but I will be out of town for July 4th so I will be getting it put on the following week. Gigga I'll let you know when its on. I guess i can take a video with my digital camera. I dont have a camcorder.

He's doing it for $600 and some change installed. I'm sure he can do the same for you if you like it.
