Shipping a bike from IA to NJ
Shipping a bike from IA to NJ
Whats goin on guys, had a question involving shipping. My little brother just bought a 2010 BMW 1000R on eBAY from a dealership in Iowa. We both have no clue on how much it should cost to ship a motorcycle from that area to NJ. Has anyone had this experience before? Any advice or tips?
Any help at all is appreciated
thanks guys

Your brother should have thought of the logistics prior to buying out of state.
Just having gone through this myself (as a seller), have him go to a site called uship and enter a listing. In it you'll list what is being shipped, origin, destination. It's very similar to ebay but the product being offered is shipping services.
You're probably looking at a $400-500 amount.
Your other option is to drive out there and trailer it home, or fly and ride. An s1000rr is not the most ideal bike for a thousand mile journey however.
Lets hope he got a really good deal on the bike to help offset the shipping/transport charges.
Personally, i'd have a hard time offering $$$ for any expensive tangible item, sight unseen. But these days that doesn't seem to be the case. My buyer was from way south (~1300 miles away).

Thanks for the help....my brother's always been a leap first look second kinda guy. He wound up getting a company to ship it for 475 fully insured in an enclosed trailer. Apparently the price he got was too good to pass up and even after paying for shipping he made out pretty well.
