Buying Infiniti Extended Warranty on used vehicle

Newbie to Infiniti ownership to the forums ... hope this is the appropriate section to ask this question.

I'm picking up my 09 G37x on Monday from an Infiniti dealer and am torn on extending the bumper to bumper warranty.

It currently has 21 months left, and they've offered to extend it an additional 36 months (Years 5 - 7) for $3600. (KMs will not be a factor given my expected driving).

Seems kinda high in my opinion. Looking for the wisdom and experience of others!

And they also offered the electronic rust inhibitor and warranty for $1000. (LOL)

(And I'm in Canada ... prices are higher here)

Wow.. Used car warranty prices are insane. I paid $1300USD or $1400 for 4 additional years (5-8) or up to 100K miles when buying the car new. This was an infiniti elite care policy.

Edit: I went for the peace of mind, knowing what a complicated electronic contraption the g37 is

That's WHY too much. I got ann addition 4 years 60k miles warranty (total 8yrs 120,000 miles) for $1,600. Warranty is through Infiniti. What I've been told from a number of people, including my dealership, Mechanically nothing should break. However, the car has soo many sensors, those tend to go. Also, depending on package and I you have the Nav system, the screen itself cost $$$ to replace if it breaks. One warranty claim can pay for the warranty. But I would never pay 3k+. I would shop around, call different dealership. Any Infiniti dealer can sell you a warranty.

I bought one through the Nissan dealer I bought my '09 from. Total was 7/100000 and I think I paid like $1800 (that's with the GAP ins as well). Wish I kinda didn't cause I didnt know about this site at the time, and I'm probably just gonna end up voiding it anyway.

So, if you plan on keeping it stock, then why not for the peace of mind. However, if you're gonna mod it, might as well skip it.

lol. not a chance. the car is very reliable with the routine preventative maintenance. remember, only do what the owner's manual REQUIRES, not what the dealer recommends. they will upsell to th enth degree, they need to cover that expensive dealer overhead. and, of course, you do not need to go to the dealer for routine maintenance - only warranty concerns.

Thanks for the feedback and guidance. Picked up vehicle tonight and declined the $3600 bloodletting. From what I understand I can still purchase it before the bumper to bumper warranty expires in 21 months.
