Loud sound when braking

Howdy y'all, my 2009 sedan g37 makes a loud sound when braking. The sound comes from the bottom center of the vehicle at around the windshield distance. It is 5 consecutive hits or so. The wheel also wobbles while braking.

A mechanic said it was a center cushion that ripped. I cannot find anything about that part so I wanted to ask what the part is called or what it possibly could be causing those hits.

Thank you for your time!

Your mechanic is probably talking about the motor mounts. Or the rear center one may be referred to as the transmission mount. If those fail you can get some nasty clunking sounds as you accelerate or brake.
