Hi,
2014 infiniti q60s, around 80,000km.
I noticed it was sounding rough, and had less power.
After jacking the car up and looking underneath with the car on, I couldn't hear any exhaust leak. I then noticed, exhaust was 95% coming out the drivers side pipe. Very little on the passenger side, even with someone revving it. The drivers side sounded rough.
Can you please help me narrow it down?
One idea i had.. touch the exhaust tubes for temperature differences at the muffler, heading towards the engine.
The drivers side is hot, the passenger side cold. I followed the cold side to a smaller y pipe where the passenger side was warm.
Do not touch the exhaust while the car is running.
Exhaust in general relies on balanced exhaust flow, so leaks not only sound bad, but also cause the car to run worse. My son's truck recently had a leaking exhaust manifold and power output was greatly reduced.
Personally, I would take the car to a muffler shop and have them repair the leak.
Took it to an exhaust shop, they raised it up for a free inspection. He checked from the cats to the tail pipe.
while his colleague revved the engine:
-No sounds when moving parts by hand
-Sounds bad/rough at the tail pipe, mostly the drivers side.
He concluded that the muffler has gone bad inside.

Thanks for the suggestion. Ill check it out
i'm in Canada. Any other brands you'd recommend?
I see the following being mentioned often as well
Beluga, mango m2, top speed

Not sure which ones ship to Canada to be honest. I went with Tanabe because of the inherent Japanese high quality mufflers and tubing.
Beluga's cost less and sound good. Not sure on the quality:
Is this some sort of dampening or baffling inside the stock S muffler?
it is packed in the muffler and found trails in the mid pipe.
More important, are these studs on the midpipe flange welded on? Any advice.to removing them? I've gotten a headache hitting them with a hammer and lubricant not helping. If I grind the stud off, it's still stuck in the hole. drilling it out seemed futile. I also tried a blow torch and hitting with mallot which didn't help.
also bought bolt remover but it only stripped the bolts more
update..i took it to an exhaust shop, they recommended cutting the pipe behind the flange, installing new flanges with a bit of their pipe which probably isn't stainless steel. $150 canadian...or 110 usd.
Axleback should arrive tomorrow night.
