My 2013 G37x Coupe is due for 100K service. Any benefit for the higher price of the dealer vs. a competent local mechanic?
Your best bet is to figure out what does a dealer service of 100k entail which at worst will be spark plugs + oil/fluid services + filters and a wash +/- some others.
The take it to your competent mechanic and figure out prices. Dealer will always be more, usually with independent mechanics you are offered more assistance if something breaks.
They might have spare used parts that can help you.
Additional 100K service recommendations? H20 pump, sun roof drains, etc. I know there is a lot that could be done, but what are higher priority type things and remain on a reasonable budget.
I can't think of a scenario where the lowest trained lowest paid 0 pride dealership techs are better than a quality mom and pop shop.
In addition to the items Bull mentioned, I’d also include transmission fluid exchanges if you are like me and prefer not to be under a car on jack stands while it’s running. I have received full fluid exchanges (12 quarts with conditioner) twice at the dealership and each time the transmission felt like it was new and the service was only a couple hundred bucks. I’ve also had good luck with electrical issues at the dealership on my other cars.
Dealerships are great for their specialized knowledge and access to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts, which can be crucial if your car is still under warranty. On the other hand, a trusted local mechanic might offer lower prices and personalized service. If you're still unsure, getting in touch with alexandria toyota customer service could help, as they can offer general advice on vehicle maintenance, regardless of the brand.

Is there a somewhat accurate, general mileage range measure on stock shock/strut replacement? I'm at 108K on OEM equipment. The ride seems ok, but I dont know what it was like new. If replacement is the right course of action, what is a good option?
