12v/cigg power and climate controls

I have a Qi charger connected to the cigg lighter. When the phone is not clipped/Qi charging the climate controls are non-responsive (but lights are on where applicable). I tried turning the car off and on and the issue persists. I unplugged the charger from the socket and restarted the car and now the climate controls work. I plugged it back in, and they stopped working. Once again when I put the phone on the charger, they work again.

Now that is a new one.
How close is the charging pad in relation to the HVAC panel? The only thing I can think of is that somehow the magnetic field of the Qi is causing some type of interference with the CANBUS signals.

I know the Nissan OEM charging kits have the pad toward the rear of the center console... perhaps for that same reason..?

Yeah I couldn't find anything online about this.

It's in front of the passenger climate pot.

This is highly unlikely. i have had a Qi pad mounted right next to my radio for probably 4 years now. It's also right in front of my radio panel.

maybe if its a really low quality qi charger? But I have tried 2 of them with no issues. (i just recently updated to a faster one)

Did you try another cig port and see if that makes any difference? I use the one in the arm rest. I doubt this will make a difference, but worth a try.

I was thinking of doing that but haven't gotten around to it yet and it slipped my mind before I ended up making this post.

My steering wheel volume and other audio controls also don't work under the same conditions.

Makes sense, those don't use CAN, they are going into a plug on the back of the AV unit.
Did you try the other port? if if the result is the same I'd say you have a low quality charger and it's somehow interfering with the AV unit.

Does the device have an FCC ID number?
If it doesn't, then I suspect the electrical noise emitted by the charging pad is causing the HVAC/radio to stop responding.

I had that thought as well, but it looks like it actually does

Since it has an FCC ID (IKQMGQ) I guess then it is a weakness of the car, as it wouldn't be designed to block the 110-147 KHz pulses.
