Automatic Rod sticking

Need help. Yesterday I installed my B2Designs Auto shift ****, pretty straight forward but I notice has problems going into park and outta park. Took it apart and found out that the white Compression Rod doesn’t spring back up. Works fine in all other gears. I’ve read people replace new shifter mechanism or adjusting a rod or something underneath but no how to fix

The issue is likely with your shift knøb. You are probably setting the knøb too low on the shifter stalk. When you install the knøb, try raising it up just a few millimeters before you lock the set screws. Had the same issue with my Momo knøb where the shifter would not fully go onto park. This fixed it for me and that was years ago- no issues since.

Does the problem persist when you put the original stock knøb back on? Or only with the new unit?

There is no adjustment for the release actuator. Either something internally to the shifter is sticking, or maybe the new knøb- or installation- has a issue.

Photo is of shifter as viewed from driver side.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help...

Thanks for the help. Yes I put the factory one back on. Works fine when go from Park to Drive, but when u put it in Reserve right after Park u have to get it a min for it. Squeeze the shifter buttom few times. When the shifter is off u can press the white rod down and it doesn’t retract it takea a min. Moves like a snail. Not sure if makes any sense

AHA! I am willing to bet your actuator needs a shot of WD-40 or equivalent. If you have any, give a shot to the area just behind the big, white plastic "slider" (the red arrow in the above pic) and also a quick shot down the center of the stalk/ under the white plastic cap (this is where the spring is located). The grease is likely starting to dry out.

Nope didn’t fix the issue. Something got damaged when installed aftermarket shifter I’m guessing because I never had this issue before. I have next few days off to figure this out. Any more ideas? Thanks for the help . It’s to the point now where u can Barely get it out of park.

Hmmm... the mechanism is super simple and easy. There has to be something either causing the actuator rod or the shift lock module to bind. Make sure you are pressing the manual shift lock release button (square white plastic button) while you are pressing the shift rod. Here's what I would try:

1) remove the white plastic cap and check it for damage, distortion, etc. Pry the two "ears" and it will slide up. With the cap removed does the shift rod move freely in the shaft?
2) the rod is prone to rusting. Make sure the shaft is clean and free from debris.
3) remove the shift lock module (2 phillips head screws) and check to make sure the plastic slider moves freely. With the module removed does the rod move freely?
4) lubricate everything as you go.

The above is possible with the shifter still in the car. It will be difficult with tight, cramped space, but is doable.

Allright I finally got off work and got this back apart. It’s gotta be shift lock module thats binding. White plastic cap was fine til I broke the tap(ugh) . Nothing is rusted, shift rod moves fine. Shift lock module (2 phillips head screws) ? Guess have to remove the center Consol for this. I have a coupe 2012. It’s getting dark. Start fresh on this in the am and sleep on it
