2011 G37x Coupe Whistling Sounds at 100KM/H Speeds

Hey Everyone,

Just purchased a G37x 2011 Coupe and it its fantastic until it recently started making this whistling sound when I am on the freeway. It only makes it when I am at speeds 100KM/hr+

I attached a video of the sound it makes.

I initially thougth it might of been the driver door but putting the camera closer to the windshield makes me believe it it somewhere near the windshield. Could it be the windshield itself?

Any help is appreciated.

Edit: I haven't modded anything or added anything at all. Everything is stock including the filters. The dealer put new cabin and intake filters when i purchased the car which was 2 weeks ago. It was fine until a couple of days ago.

Check the rubber teepee over the tweeter at the front of the door

I was having a similar issue and made a post about this with the windshield cowl fix: https://www.myg37.com/forums/d-i-y-i...-noises-8.html

If I were you, I'd take it back and have them inspect the wheel bushings as it could be tire noise even though it sounds like it's going through the windshield. This sounds different than the one I had but it was making a similar noise when only going highway speeds. If not, I'd least inspect all the seals around the windows and make sure the grooves are tightly secured.

inspect window and door seals for cuts or odd crush marks. Look at the lower windshield / cowl area and make sure all plastic and rubber trim is present and secured. Make sure you don't have something stuck behind the grill that whistles when moving.

Mine whistles at around 175kph but that's intake noise.

My passenger mirror can vibrate/whistle at speeds greater than 130 kph. I rarely drive that fast (Texas has some REALLY liberal speed limits in open areas) but will on trips.

Once I got the rubber teepee that fits over the tweeter mine stopped whistling it's a thin fragile piece of rubber that needs dash protectant or wheel dressing to keep from dry rotting

Hey everyone, thanks for the good tips some of the steps that I've done so far are:

I've washed and clean all the rubber on the outside windshield, windows, and door.

I also applied a rubber moisturizer on all rubber trims on the doors and windows.

I also checked the mirrors and they seem to be okay non moving. I also check the rubber piece between the mirrors and the windows.

I haven't touched the cowl yet, but i might try that next.

Still have the same issue at the moment.

My X coupe makes a very similar whistling sound when I have the sunroof cracked but the slider pulled all the way shut and I'm driving faster than say, 50Mph. I'll either close my sunroof or open the slider to solve the noise. However, I'm sure you've ruled this out already, but if not...

After a week and a half of troubleshooting I can confirm that it is not the door, or windows or the sunroof.

I noticed that the sound kinda fades when I use my wipers and even quieter when I spray some fluid for the windshield. Hopefully that's whats causing the issue.

Try removing your wipers and take a test run (obviously don't activate them while doing this). Could be the brand of wiper and the design of their wiper arm that's causing the issue.
