"awd" light on dash
"awd" light on dash
When we start our X cars there's an "awd" light that comes on with the rest of the dash instrument lights and goes out at the same time the rest go out. I actually only noticed this recently, but my question is when does this light illuminate as I haven't ever seen it on while driving regardless of conditions. Slippery wet roads I've purposely brought the car into a condition I would expect to see the awd light come on, with and without stability control active. With "snow" mode active that has not brought the light on, and the explanation in the manual only states snow mode reduces power to prevent tire slippage, or something to the sort.
What is the purpose of the awd light if it doesn't indicate an awd condition?
Just curious, not loosing sleep over it LOL
Thanks
Matt

AFAIK it illuminates if there is a problem with the AWD system, i.e. its disabled for some reason so the fact that you never have it stay on is a good thing. Along with the other lights that illuminate at start up it cycles on so you know the light itself is working.
Well that makes perfect sense, pretty simple and feel kinda foolish asking the question now. LOL
I guess I was associating the stability / traction light flashing when it's working to the awd light not.
Thank you for the quick explanation Hashim!
