Hi, I am at 60k Miles and need to get a transmission flush. I was told that my car needs CVT Fluid and not just synthetic. Is this correct. I have a 2012 Infiniti G37 Coupe S 6 speed Manual. The CVT would cost me 155 and the synthetic would just cost me 95.

any advise would be greatly appreicated.

OP if you have a manual it specs for 75w85 GL4. If a shop is recommending CVT fluid find a new shop. If they use a fluid that is gl5 rated but says it's good for gl4... Find another shop. If it says gl5 anywhere on the bottle other than "not for use where gl5 fluid is specified" don't use it. You run the risk of damaging the synchros in the transmission.

You don't "flush" a manual. It's simply a drain and fill. I wouldn't say it's completely necessary at 60k but definitely can't hurt as long as the correct fluid is used.

Just traded in my 2012 G37S 6 speed at 94444 miles. Never did any fluid changes other than 26 oil and filter changes.
Never changed transmission fluid on my previous 06 G35 6 speed that was fine when I traded that vehicle in at 171796 miles.
If you like to **** away your hard earned money and and that makes you sleep better than go right ahead.
