Here is a strange issue. Yesterday I got home after a 4 hour uneventful road trip and parked the car. This morning when I start it I get a loose fuel cap warning. I check and find that the cap is completely unscrewed and inside the fuel door. Is it possible that the cap unscrewed itself?

Some background the car sat unused for 5 days before the trip and I did not refuel the car before the trip. So if it was operator error and I did forget to replace the cap why did I not get a warning when I first started the car? Strange!

 

It is a wear and tear part if if still clicks you're good else spend the 10 bucks for a new one
