Trying to break away from mobil1 5w-30. Recommendations?

I know, yet another oil thread lol!

There is plenty of information available for amsoil signature series but there isn't much information available for liqui moly in our engines.

Liqui moly got so many 5w-30s it boggles me and then they go technical about this oil doesn't have this certification but this one has it.

If someone using liqui moly oils here, which part number they use? What changing cycles and if they have report handy?

On the other hand, i know amsoil signature is the most expensive but safest option for me. Regular amsoil users, what changing cycles you guys are using? Oil analysis report if someone can post.

Help your fellow here

Thanks for the link, wasn't really looking for a generic information tho.
Am looking for specifically g37 engine at g37 forums.
Asking for inputs on "liqui moly" oils, not just any oil vs amsoil.

Liqui-moly isnt going to do anything M1 won't other than cost twice as much. If you want to experience the minute differences, castrol and pennzoil synthetics cost the same as M1. Play with those first and see if you get whatever you think you're missing with the M1

Had great OCAs w/ Pennz Platinum 5/30 at 6-7k OCIs, I also use the bigger Nissan/Infiniti 4.5/5.6 liter V8s. Also Pennz Platinum has $10 rebates on 5qts until the end of the year.

Mobil 1 did the best on a freeze test ... beating AMSOIL, Royal Purple, and several others. Walmart oil looked like taffy in the test. LOL

since i drive in winter, i'll try Mobil1 next time - i think i'm on Castrol Synthetic at the moment.

If you regularly have -40 weather you need a block heater. All of those oils are fine for winter weather. Your engine isn't gravity fed.

I feel like this is a generic question, but what makes one oil better than another?

mostly marketing - changed REGULARLY, most name-brand oil (not Walmart, etc) will do the job.
i use synthetic (Castrol, Mobil1, or Pennzoil), and change at 4-5k miles, because i do mostly city driving. if it was more highway, i'd change less frequently.

What makes the bigger filters better? I may start buying those if it helps engine life/performance, etc....

Adds a bit more oil capacity and more filter area which can be beneficial for extended oil change intervals. Over on bobstheoilguy here's a thread about the pros & cons. Keep in mind the V8 filter isn't a super-sized filter, just about 30% longer. Many of G35 guys have been running the V8 filters for a good dozen + years now.

Realistically, as long as it's changed with proper intervals even store brand oils should be fine. As long as it's API certifications.

Pennzoil and Castrol are better. You can pick up enough for 22.95 at walmart most of the time. Use good filters, Wix or Purolator.

Another vote for Pennzoil. But an interesting question. Upon deleting the cats does anyone consider a higher zddp oil?

Why do you feel that you need a different oil?
