ok after researching a bit more I have come to the conclusion that yes indeed the v8 filters are larger with largely the exception of the Fram ultra xg9688.

so as you can see largely at least from this sampling the v8 filter is larger with the exception to the fram ultra, maybe other series fram's are the same I don't know I would not consider running any of the others but that's just me

 

@blnewt which oil filter are you using now? and as of today out of all you have used which one would you recommend?
