Shouldn't be anything to do with the accident. A local parts store should read the code for free. Get the code and post what it is and you'll get much better help. Right now it's a complete guess.

check your sensors for your evap as it is located under the rear/bumper.
my firend old g35 was salvage because of this issue along with slighy frame warp.
evap located under your exhaust canister in rear/bumper . if stock u may have to drop the muffler to gain acess if u have cbe u can work around it or look to see if any thing looses or if u hear hissing from that section of your car good luck.

i will have to find out on jan 11' when my car goes to the shop to get everything put back in place, If the SES light is still on when finished , I will find out how to reset this, and proceed, if the light comes back on after reset I will jump to the Sensor you speak of.

The light won't turn off unless you reset the code. There's a potential problem with your engine, I'd suggest going and getting the code checked rather than driving around for another 3 weeks with a problem...

The check engine light WILL GO OUT once the car has completed 3 drive cycles WITHOUT a malfunction.

Reseting the ECU, or clearing the light deletes the engine snap shot (freeze frame) of all the engine sensors when the fault occurred. This can make repair more difficult.

As Epiphany said, it is a good idea to get the code read and see what the issue is.

Not that I'm doubting, but I've never heard that before. I was under the impression that it would stay on until cleared.

Most people are not aware of this, but it is required for any OBD-II certified vehicle. Details are in the FSM, EC-143.

indeed once (Any) cel, ses or mil indicated light is reset or attempt to be cleared. All fuction of sensors and previous monitor specs of data is deleted, however u may still get a code u may not but the data from father freeze frame is deleted. freeze fran data is very important. best thing to do is ride out until the code shows if it been cleared before. on another note you may recive codes from other places but all pin pointing to one sensor malfunction. thats when it becomes a problems of chasing down tdc.
