Cruise Control not working (after accident)

Hello everyone, I am new here. I purchased my 2009 G37 (Sedan 6MT) a little over a year ago. It has been great to drive, I really love it.

Unfortunately, I was recently not paying close enough attention while driving and rear ended the car in front of me. I believe I was going about 10 MPH when the collision occurred. I was quite surprised to see that there was absolutely no visible damage to my car at all.

After the exchange of information, I was back on the road headed home. I nearly always drive with cruise control. I immediately tried to enable the cruise control, and it would not work. I can turn the cruise control on, and the light illuminates in the information center, but when I push the button to set a speed, it just doesn't work. FYI, I do not have intelligent cruise control.

Any ideas on what could be going on? I've checked all fuses I could find, and none are blown.

Are you sure you don't have the "intelligent" version? The "CCS.pdf" from the service manuals below seems to only show that version... but worth a look:
Index of /FSM/G37/Sedan/2009

The brake and clutch pedal switches are common causes of CC canceling. (I don't know, maybe the bumper bump was a coincidence?) Try (carefully) pulling back those pedals with your toe to see if the CC will engage.

I would keep it simple and assume something was knocked loose. Check all connections under the hood and that pedal idea..

Thank you both for your responses. Yes, I am sure I don't have the intelligent cruise control. Mine doesn't have the top button.

Anyway, your idea about the clutch switch is a good one. I'll check out the clutch and brake switches to see if that could be it.

I am quite certain that whatever happened it was something directly related to the crash. It was working seconds before the crash, and it has not worked since the crash. Coincidences happen, but...

OK, the "simple" version of the CC is called "Automatic Speed Control Device" or "ASCD" (that's pretty funny) and is found in the "EC.pdf" file at the link above. Starts on page 63 and other references later...

Sorry for not posting about this sooner. It took me a while to get it fixed. It ended up being the brake switch. I was convinced that something during the accident behind the bumper caused the problem, but that wasn't it. I took the whole front bumper off and didn't find anything except a loose wire going to the horn (now I have a two tone horn again!!!).

But like I said, it ended up being the brake switch. The only thing I can think is that when I could tell I was about to rear end the other car, I slammed on the brake VERY hard. Is it possible that I broke the switch by smashing down on the pedal so hard? Who knows...

In any event, it's fixed now.
