Diagnostic mode

Hey guys,
I have G37 '10 with Navigation package and SES lit

I tried to get into diagnostic mode by pressing settings button+scrolling audio volume ****.
But I haven't find any errors.

Can I get any error engine error codes in diagnostic mode or should I just buy OBD scanner instead?

Thanks.

Pick up a scanner for future use, and head down to your local Napa or equivalent and they'll likely scan the code for free.

well being in cali auto parts stores cant lend you a code scanner. some stupid law about only repair facilities reading codes or something.
if you are in culver city anytime soon i have a obd 2 scanner and can read the codes for you if you want. otherwise take it to some shop that will read the codes for free and google them.

The procedure you're trying to do will not give you DTCs. Get an OBD II scanner or take it to someone who has one. Pull the codes. Then Google them. That will give you an answer faster and possibly more accurately than coming here to post and ask the general forum population.

So I ordered
this this
for $13.95.

I checked an error code which was P0106 and successfully erased it but I'm not quite happy.
I've noticed that my car intermittently wouldn't work hesitatingly in idle mode. No concerns when I'm driving.

Question time..should I worry about it? I made a quick research and there are several reasons like bad MAP or MAF sensors; vacuum leak (gas cap?); corruption at ECM which require to be reprogrammed.

I think I would leave it as it is and just keep eye on it for now since I don't have any concerns.
What you guys think?

The code P0106 is for the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor. Its value is not in the expected range. Check for any disconnected or cracked hoses on the intake.

When was the last time your throttle bodies were cleaned? Your idle problems can be caused by a dirty throttle body.

Has the SES light come back since you reset it?

Yes it did come back after resetting.

Never cleaned throttle body.
